Hello everyone! I have 2 years of experience working as a teacher assistant in preschool. The preschool where I work have introduced STEM and instead of hiring professionals they have given specific people the opportunity to teach it to the kids. I’m very overwhelmed and anxious because STEM is so new to me, I have been doing my research and I’ve found several fun activities to do with the kids but still it’s so nerve wracking. Good part is I just have to be in 5 different classes for 35 mins I was just wondering if you guys could share your experiences and give me some tips. Help this girl o ..read more

Logic gate kits for kids

I'm looking to start teaching digital logic & would like to find a kit made for kids in the 12-14 year range that have logic gates. Something like Snap Circuits logic gates, but a bit more usable... as the snap circuits logic kit only contains a small handful of gates. I'd like to lead to building adders. Any suggestions for a kit? We can use breadboards but I'd like something a little more intuitive than a 74LSXX package. submitted by /u/djc6535 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Planning on creating a STEM club for my high school

For the most part I’m planning on starting off in the first meeting by teaching members (in large groups) how to use microbit for programming python (this is just an idea, I’m not sure if this is the best idea for a Technological activity), and going off of what they would like to learn for future activities. I created a google form and asked the questions, “what would you like to learn or do in this club?”, and, “What are you the most excited for”? I’m a sophomore so I’m not an expert on gaining leadership skills, but I did end up making a move on gaining support from organizations that I ha ..read more

I will be very honest I am a biology major and I’m looking for the best outcome from the rest of my schooling years. Biology was already a bit of a mistake considering that I no longer feel interest in studying for long periods of time (MD Med school years) now I’m looking for the masters that can translate me or give me a set of skills that are high paying the ones I will hopefully use to secure my future and build a strong foundation for life and my family! What I do now is very important and I’m not taking it lightly! Also not to be rude I ask to Please skip the you have to have passion to ..read more

Hey everyone! This year for my 8th graders I’d like to start teaching an actual programming language. I’m thinking of Python. These students I’ve had for a couple years. Most know how to code block based from Scratch. Any advice? Also, any recommendations on sites I could use for students? I’m thinking of either using PixelPad or Trinket. Thank you! submitted by /u/Burritos92 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
