Students at all our schools in White Rock, Cloverdale/langley, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove, and Mission learn about all 5. This month, our students in WhiteRock, Cloverdale, Langley, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove, and Mission will be studying the character lesson: Sharing. This is an important concept that children must learn. For many children, it is difficult for them to see the other end of sharing: the benefits that others gain from one’s act of sharing. You can help by reinforcing sharing at home. Support your child in their effort to share. Below are some tips on how to complement the lessons we teach about sharing this month: Model sharing and giving. Hello everyone! Summer is quickly coming to an end and we are getting ready to welcome many new students to Taekwondo Changs Taekwondo. One of the most important parts of Taekwondo is Respect. When we talk about respect one often over looked aspect is LISTENING. Many of us especially as we get older tend to hear but not listen. It may seem like they are the same but listening or more accurately called “Active Listening”  is the process of focusing or concentrating a the speaker and what they are saying. We are  going to go over four reasons why martial arts is a must this back to school season. Reason number #1 is fitness. Reason number #2 is self-confidence. Is your child shy? Is it hard for them to introduce themselves to people? Do they sometimes get bullied? Martial arts can truly help with self confidence because confidence comes from competence. And when you have real skills and tools to defend y ..read more

Fairness Hello everyone! This month, students will be studying the character word: FAIRNESS. Being fair takes effort. Being impartial and unprejudiced requires balance and wisdom. As teachers and role models for our students, we can equip children with the lessons of fairness and provide them with an outlet to apply those lessons to actual situations. Here is a guideline regarding children and fairness based on age: § With children ages 3 and 4; they are starting to learn right from wrong.  Teach them how to follow rules, take turns, and share. § With children ages 5 and 6; they are learn ..read more

Blog about warmups Hello everyone! We have a set journey on which every student embarks each time they step on our mats. Each student bows in, and then we all do our stretching exercises! Stretching is important! Students from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove, and Mission all spend at least five minutes of stretching every class. But why do we stretch? Stretching at the beginning of Taekwondo training helps us avoid injuries! Do we perform spinning hook kicks, and front turning kicks, or side kicks and jumping 180 kicks every day? The answer (m ..read more
