Differences in Debt Settlement?

I have enrolled 4 debts from different creditors with a debt settlement company. One of these debts is from an American Express credit card. However, American Express doesn't want to work with a debt settlement company because they don't have a law firm partnered with them. Interestingly, with my other 3 debts, they were settled and I got favorable settlements with them, and I never encountered that issue with American Express. Why do they behave differently? What's the difference? submitted by /u/iamnotsad06 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi everybody. Joined this because I like everyone else is trying to minimize their debt. I do have student loans and car debt but I am going to focus on that later, as my biggest concern is my credit card debt. Got into decent debt due to being in grad school for counseling and had to do a practicum that at the time being, didn't allow me to work full time so my income was cut in half for a year and half, on top of moving across the country and planning a wedding. So here's my current owing: CC 1- $9000 with a 25.49% APR CC 2- $7351 with a 26.24% APR CC 3- I just opened this for partial balan ..read more

I recently took out a $40,000 personal loan for 8.99% over 60 months with the intention of consolidating my debts. Now I'm not so sure it was the right idea. I owe the following: $19,000 @ 20.49% - credit card $2,987 @ 15.75% - credit card $3,140 @ 22.49% - credit card $10,021 @ 4.75% - 401k loan $12,400 @ 2.49% - car loan I took out the personal loan with the intention of paying roughly $1,000 per month and paying it off as quickly as possible to avoid interest. How should I apply this consolidation to my debt? Should I focus on what opens up the most available cash per month or just the hig ..read more

Credit card payoff from 401k loan?

39f, and transferred a 21k balance to a new card at 2.5% rate for one year. Is there a reason I shouldn’t just take money out of my 401k to pay this? I hate carrying it, the payments are high, and even though yes I will have to pay back my 401k through paychecks auto deducted for 5 years, I will be back to putting cash in my pocket. I went through a rough time and drained savings and my funds in that account are pretty decent. Any reason why not? submitted by /u/ladybrainhumanperson [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
