The pictures leave little doubt: Playdate might be unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Hidden behind its bright yellow casing lies a quite tiny console; one that could easily fit in your pocket. A couple of buttons, a black and white screen, and a crank complete the little item. Why a crank, you ask? We’ll tell you in a couple of minutes.
Announced today by Panic – the veteran software developer that helped publish Campo Santo‘s Firewatch – the Playdate hand-held console wants to be the company’s legacy.
We don’t know much about its features yet, but that won’t stop us from speculating. Will th ..read more

Nothing says futuresport gladiator apocalypse quite like a pantheon of robots destroying each other for entertainment. In indie developer Facepunch‘s new turn-based arena game, Clatter, that is exactly what you get – a quirky, well designed, tactical outing that hits all the notes of its entertaining genre.
Clatter is relentlessly zany, strategic, and fun, even if you wonder at times what exactly it is you’re blasting into your eye holes.

Driftwood Pirates is a series of indie comics about a group of four pirates that name themselves the Unicornus. Together, the friends have embarked on their latest journey to find four idols and unlock the path to the greatest treasure ever known.
Pirate tales make people want to explore the world and discover new possibilities; they even make me want to take up sword-fighting. Sometimes, however, certain tales make me wonder why a tale even exists in the first place. Is today’s series one of those cases? Let’s try to find out together!

Lamentum is the first game from developer ObscureTales. It’s described as a pixel art survival horror game set in New England in the mid-nineteenth century.
Lamentum revolves around a young aristocrat named Victor. In a desperate search for the cure of a rare disease, Victor finds himself in a dark mansion. Here he will do the long-forgotten ritual called The Pact of Laments.
With heavy inspiration from other survival games such as Alone in the dark, Silent Hill and Resident Evil, ObscureTales seems to have a good idea on their hands. similarly to those titles, this indie game will have multip ..read more

When we think of the name “Icarus,” there are a few things that come to mind: a boy, wings, falling in some fashion. In the original Greek myth, Icarus flies too close to the sun at his peril. Here, Icarus falls into a dormant volcano, and that’s where the similarities end.
Taking the concept of a winged young man in their own direction, writer Gregory A. Wilson and artist Áthila Fabbio present what looks to be a dynamic, compelling, and hopeful fantasy adventure story with their graphic novels “Icarus” and “Jellinek.”

Clam man. He is a man that is also a clam. His name is also Clam Man.
Clam Man just got laid off, and that is kinda where we start. The whole concept is sort of bizarre, to be honest. The game is a rabbit hole down into absurdity, but the good kind of absurdity.
Linear storytelling
Clam man is a point & click in the most basic way; you see things, you click them and a funny caption pops up. The characters are voiced like a mix between the adults from Snoopy and the characters from Banjo Kazooie, and I am frankly fine with that.
The game plays out in different acts and follows a pretty line ..read more
