Hi guys I’m 20 years old I’ve been diagnosed with stage 5/4 kidney failure about two years ago. I was able to keep my numbers stable for a while but unfortunately they’ve dropped down again my creatinine being at 6.3 and my GFR at 11 I’m just wondering what is the process like can I pause it it? What if I want to vacation for a few days?

I am getting a new machine set up tomorrow. I could not get the old home choice pro to complete a cycle. Constant low slow drain alarms. This is my last hope to do overnight treatment. Any tips or advice?

Hey guys ?? so I'm starting a new job as a secretary/receptionist at a dialysis clinic and I was wanting to see if there were any suggestions as to little things I could do or provide that could make things more enjoyable for the patients. I was thinking about possibly creating a basket of fidget toys that patients could borrow during their treatments (I know I'd probably have to wipe them down with a Clorox wipe after each use but I don't mind). I was just curious for any input on this idea of any other ideas? Thanks!

Yesterday, I couldn't climb a flight of stairs without getting totally winded. I asked my nephrologist if it could be my medication and he recommended I go to the ER asap. I did and they ran tests and found no evidence for a heart attack or anything else glaring so they sent me home. I missed my treatment last night and came to work today. Same issue on the stairs. This started yesterday out of nowhere and it's got me really concerned. Has anyone else had an issue like this just suddenly come upon them?
Disclosure: I have a urologist appointment tomorrow for a prostate issue and I'm frightene ..read more

With more than 556,000 Americans are on dialysis Why doesn't the government make it cheaper ? I know it's a business but even with the 20% we pay out it still a lot. So far in the 7 months that I have been on it I an like 5k in medical debt . Like I told my wife I have to pay to keep alive now. This is not living it's now just existing.

I (M/53) live in Scotland and have been on dialysis since May 2022, PD until November’22 and HD ever since I’ve noticed since this winter my hands and feet suffering from poor circulation to the point of (my hands at least) turning blue when out in cold weather.
Yesterday, while at dialysis my vascular nurse noticed my hands were very red (the first really warm day so far this year) and he suggested I see my GP (doctor). It takes forever to get a doctor’s appointment here!
Do you suffer from poor external circulation and if so how do you combat it?
Thanks,
Charlie.
