go ? to ? the ? other ? place ? if you don't like my services it's that simple. I'm not mad if you've had a certain groomer for 5yrs but please, don't come to me in a last ditch effort to save your dog, especially if you're having an attitude. sorry I can't bathe, dry, do haircut and everything in UNDER 30 minutes. If your groomer did it that way either they're the Flash or they're skipping certain steps. Also, if your dog is acting crazy around you.. don't be mad I'm gonna want to be alone with the dog. I know your other groomer wanted you to be there the whole time and hold the dog while th ..read more

My dog has knots on the top of her head from my bigger dogs getting spit on her. I had to cut them out because they wouldn’t brush but now her head looks stupid. Any way I can fix it or do I just have to wait for it to grow out? submitted by /u/imissyou____ [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is it too soon?

I am a bather and have been for a year now.. is it too soon to want to learn how to groom? Backstory: I work in a very toxic salon where I feel like I cannot grow as the people are very caddy. I don’t feel comfortable even mentioning anything about wanting to learn to groom. I am burnt out as the people there don’t have any passion for their jobs either and are very negative and just there for the money and not considerate of the dogs sadly…There was a previous groomer that worked there who told me that grooming isn’t usually like this and that this place is the worst place they have ever wor ..read more

Our rescue dog, poodle-mix, must be shaved down. What to expect?

Our new rescue dog is a poodle-mix with extremely overgrown, matted hair. It's very likely he will need to be shaved down according to the groomer. We want to know what to expect from our dog after he loses most of his hair. Other details: He's almost 2 years old, and from what we know, he has likely never been groomed before. However, he's extremely docile--easy to play with his paws, etc. Thank you! submitted by /u/whitewateractual [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Anyone else have trouble seeing what they are doing when grooming black coats? I feel like I might as well be cutting in a black hole. Lol. I've been grooming 20+ yrs so probably my eyes are worn out. ?‍♀️ submitted by /u/greygirl27 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello! As a current employee of a Woof Gang’s Bakery & Grooming, I’ve run into some issues….big and small. I was hoping my fellow professional dog groomers can give me some insight and advice on how ti approach these issues as effectively as possible. We are having a team meeting in two days and I would like to bring these up. Also, please tell me if I’m not the only fellow Woof Ganger that has these issues. Our booking/appt system is ‘Franpos’. Recently, I have discovered that 100% of services and TIPS have been going under the franchise owner. I caught these mistakes, not once, but ..read more

I'm feeling so defeated and burned out.

This shave down season has been exceptional in the worst possible way. Exceptional in that I've seen more matted dogs with owners who REFUSE to shave them down in my entire career. I'm so sick of customers calling back and complaining because I had to do exactly what I told them I would be doing at check in. I have always loved this career, but I cannot with these people who refuse to brush their dogs and then blame me. Another doodle customer just called to complain AGAIN and I'm ready to hang up my clippers for good. She called with claims of blood and cuts but no evidence because I literal ..read more

Quick question about cat grooming

The cat grooming subreddit looked dead so I brought my question here; hope that is alright. I was wondering if you can use a dog grooming arm on a cat. I am trying to groom my 2 cats myself so it’s hard to brush their teeth with only two arms. Any advice would be appreciated. submitted by /u/Celery-Upper [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
