Injured BJJ partner

I was rolling with this guy and I had him in a kimura hold and I was applying the pressure as I always have done during the year I’ve been going BJJ. I didn’t feel a tap at all but I felt all tension drop the guys arm really quick so naturally the kimura pressure when on and popped his elbow. He’s said “WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU DOING?” and the next round went all out on me as he was clearly annoyed. Obviously I had zero intention of hurting the guy but I’m struggling to know exactly what I did wrong as the pressure I had was what I’ve always used and never had a complaint. I wasn’t wrenching his ..read more

Why is it called "ecological" ?

Ok, first of all I think I get what's the ecological approach in the context of BJJ. I've read a about how you drill positional sparring, how it helps contextualize techniques... My question is more trivial. AFAIK "ecological" means something related with nature, pollution, plants, animal... I fail to understand why the pedagogical approach is named "ecological". I prefer to ask a dumb question rather than stay ignorant forever. So if somebody could enlighten me about this, I would gladly appreciate. submitted by /u/Jonas_g33k [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Professional Grappling Federation (PGF Season 6) Day 1 thoughts , number 1 overall pick looks like a bust in this ruleset

PJ Barch the number 1 overall pick has 0 points after Day 1 , his points heavy game does not translate in this submission only ruleset , in his first match his no name opponent catch him in leg triangle PJ recognize it a millisecond early to survive it David Asare , Andy Varela and Daniel Sathler leading in points for Day 1 , they are finishing expectedly their inferior opponents , the match of Asare vs Varela cancelled each other a boring wrestling match , Sathler was robbed of 2 points DQ for his match for "jumping guard" against Ben Eddy submitted by /u/wilkinsroad [visit reddit] [comment ..read more

Favorite counters to double over pass in nogi?

I mostly play half and butterfly, and recently someone who I roll with all the time mostly shuts my game down with double overs when I start down before establishing my guard. When he first started doing it awhile back I was able to successfully grip fight and pull guard without issue, then after he started consistently getting control of my legs I would occasionally counter with a Kimura, stiff arm to get my legs back, or last second funk roll between his legs to a scramble. Lately though he’s shutting all that down with just slow consistent pressure. Any solid counters I’m missing outside b ..read more
