A museum that really took us by surprise is the Rudolph Tegner Museum & Statue Park – North of Copenhagen.  We started in the Statue-park, and I can tell you, we were in for a bit of a sight. Beautiful scenery, and then you’d come across these incredibly huge and very beautiful bronze sculptures. We walked around the park for hours, and also met some of the many sheep who graze there all summer.  Rudolph Tegner Museum is created and built by Tegner himself, with his own art pieces adorning both the inside of the museum and the statue park outside. The statue park ..read more

Remember this post I posted ages ago about random Danish words/phrases and what they actually mean? Well, I believe it is time for a much-needed update, on random Danish words and sayings that might mean something other than you think: Før djævlen får sko på!! Before the devil gets his shoes on! – Meaning you’re up before the crack of dawn! Så er den ged barberet!! The goat has been shaved!! – Means you’ve solved a problem/issue and thus shaved the ‘goat’/ finished the job! Hun var hønefuld!! She was as drunk as a hen / chicken drunk! This means she was absolutely roasted. ‘Drunk as ..read more

Copenhagen’s once-industrial district, Refshaleøen, – also known as REFFEN–  has transformed into one of the city’s trendiest neighborhoods, known for its creativity, alternative urban development, festivals, and diverse culinary options. Accessible by bike, bus, or even harbor bus, this island has become an integral part of the city while maintaining its unique identity. We frequent Resfhaleøen often. It is a fun place to walk around, take in the old industrial vibe, admire the newly developed areas, and enjoy the food from many of the food stalls. There is something for every palate, or ..read more

A visit to the pumpkin farm

>>> I just wanted to butt in – and give you a fresh update on the PUMPKIN scenario. Well, Halloween, has surpassed Fastelavn (see these posts) as we spoke about before, and this adopted tradition, has fast become a favourite of little kids and teenagers alike. I thought – that since the girls are now both teens, that they couldn’t be bothered anymore, but that’s not the case at all. Big kids still love the idea of Halloween, going to a pumpkin patch to pick your own, carving that pumpkin – now with more elaborate patterns, and even (unless it is too embarrassing and awkward) going tri ..read more

A bit about age and what comes next

So I recently hit a milestone! Another digit in my age, and it kinda threw me into a random mix of feelings. On one hand, I realised that I had more time behind me, than in front of me, but on the other hand, it made me realize how LUCKY I was to still be here, healthy, breathing and able. You see, my Grandmother once told me, that age was not a gift that everyone received. Meaning, that the lucky ones get older and experience what being a ‘senior’ is all about. SENIOR, is also SOO not something I see myself as, but when you do the maths, on average, we live till we are around 78 years old. Th ..read more

Copenhagen and a bit a about the weather
Simply Danish Living Blog

Many years ago, I had a conversation with a friend of mine, who live abroad, about the weather. I said, that in Copenhagen, (or at least I do this) people generally obsess about the temperature in the summer. – what I mean is – that you expect sunshine in the summer, and if it rains you get the hump, because – well, sunshine is scarce here. Now, I had a comment from a reader of my blog – who’s moving to Copenhagen and was wondering about what the weather is really like here- especially in the summer because she comes from a warm country. Well tbh, the weather here in Copenhagen is fickle.  ..read more

Well well well, it’s really been a while. Not sure if people even blog anymore, but I’m going to make a go of it again. To be honest – I haven’t blogged for Everyone’s grown up – Corona is long gone and truly feels like a storm in a teacup. I mean – did we actually lock ourselves away indoors – over 2 periods – to protect ourselves from a virus.? It’s Spring here, and everything feels fresh and new, hence my need to not delete this blog, but perhaps try to revive it. There is – as always – a lot on my mind, and because my day-to-day job is less than creative, I have to do something to grow and ..read more

KNUTHENBORG IS REALLY A SAFARI PARK LOCATED IN THE SOUTH OF ZEALAND.  When we say Safari Park-we mean SAFARI PARK. Knuthenborg is where you get to see animals in an environment almost close to the real thing without any cages. (only the tigers and the wolves for obvious reasons). You drive through the Savannah and see giraffes, elephants in the biggest enclosure in Europe – rescued from a circus. There are rhinos, zebras, antelopes, and many more animals. Then there are the areas where you get to pet the tiny shetland ponies, the donkeys, small goats, There are also lLamas (not ..read more
