Peter Howe is the third in a family of six brothers and sisters. Over the years, he has helped take care of many people from his Buddhist community and also supported his eldest brother Hank during his decline. Upon the death of her husband, Pete stepped in to care for his sister Liz who is struggling with dementia and Parkinson’s disease and mainly confined to a wheelchair. Neil has been a steadfast source of care for Sarah and their four children throughout her cancer journey. Prior to Sarah’s upcoming chemotherapy session, both Sarah and CaringOn sought to provide Neil with a well-deserved respite, arranging a stay for him at the tranquil Hummingbird Inn in Easton, MD. Stacy Hamill nominated Joy Hairston for a CaringOn gift because she took such good care of Meghan Tillery. Meghan is a 40 year old breast cancer survivor who developed spinal issues and is now confined to a wheelchair. Joy has eight children and has a full-time job but also takes care of Meghan. CaringOn gave Joy a chance to experience some “joy” of her own with a membership to the Virginia Beach Aquarium for herself and her family. Joy has a chance to escape any day this year to enjoy the wonders beneath of the sea.
