As we approach Holy Week, I wonder how you have journeyed through Lent.
Have you given up chocolate or wine? Have you taken something up? volunteering?
I, for the third-year running have been involved with the Victoria Methodist Bristol Lent Knitalong. Two years ago, it was a cushion cover, last year a scarf, this year a prayer shawl. Each week we receive via Fb several lines of knitting and lent reflections for each day. Though I used to knit many years ago, it is a skill I have taken up again. I am slightly behind, which is the story of my life really. You can decide if it any good, h ..read more

O God, we come before you, knowing that we are welcome in your house. A warm feeling stirs within us as we direct our footsteps here, knowing that our presence is wanted and anticipated, and that you have good things in store for your children. Help us to learn from you and to be like you in the welcome we extend to others; for all people are your children, and whether they join us here or we meet them in the places common to all, your welcome must show our loving acceptance. Thank you for welcoming us as we should welcome others – unconditionally. Thank you for your many gifts to us ..read more

It was real pleasure to see so many people at this years Daffodil Day and to
share in an interview with Pam Rhodes something of the work that Methodist
Women in Britain is doing at this time, including Ruth’s period poverty project. I
have since been told of other churches who are hoping to take this up. The hall
decorated with so many lovely daffodils made an amazing backdrop for the
day.
Of course purists will say that daffodils are really narcissi and related to the
amaryllis. In some parts of the country they are called Lent Lilys as their
flowering period coincides with Lent and Easter ..read more

We have a new addition to the family, Gizmo is 7 and has come to us as his forever home. He is delightful company who is always on the go exploring his new home, new walks and new doggie friends and is already settling into his new routine. Getting to know each other is like embarking on a wonderful journey.
One of the Lent courses running in my circuit is based on Holy Habits by Andrew Roberts. It encourages participants to join in an adventure of a lifelong journey of discipleship. Based on Acts 2, it explores 10 disciplines or activities to encompass a way of life that fo ..read more

It is run under the motto ‘informed prayer and prayerful action’ and is celebrated annually in over 170 countries on the first Friday of March. The movement aims to bring together women of various races, cultures, and traditions in a yearly common Day of Prayer, as well as in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year.
This year the women of Palestine have written the service which took place across the world last Friday.

Lancashire District MWiB Conference 2024
Methodist Women in Britain held the Annual District Conference at the Glendower Hotel in
St Annes on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th February. We had a wonderful time of
fellowship, friendship and fun.
The excellent speaker was Deacon Denise Creed who has now retired and
lives in Llandudno but was previously a Deacon in the South Fylde Circuit. The
topic for the daytime sessions was ‘ The Lord is my Shepherd’. Psalm 23. Denise gave us
much to ponder on about this very popular Psalm. We also sang some lovely
hymns.
In the evening we had a social time together ..read more

Co-Chair North Ruth’s Blog: 26th February 2024
Greetings!
Last Week we had a District Day and for the first time for many years, it was held in Runcorn, so it was good to be able to meet new people and to share MWiB news. It was an early start, so I picked up three friends and then set my Satnav. ‘This postcode has not been recognised’, announced the Satnav. Fortunately, one of my passengers had her phone with her which did accept the postcode so off we set. All was well, apart from the weather, until we reached the outskirts of Runcorn and the complicated road system! We had to turn round fou ..read more
