Larousse Gastronomique -- is the 2009 edition work the extra money?

Looks like the 2009 copy is significantly more expensive than the 2001 version, something like $60 vs $15 (buying used). Does anyone have an opinion on whether the 2009 adds enough to be worth the additional money? submitted by /u/severalgirlzgalore [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

1 Solid Starter cookbook

I’m overwhelmed by the amount of cookbooks out there. What’s 1 solid starter cookbook? For reference I am an experienced cooker and baker, as in I’ve been cooking for a year and I can pretty much make anything as long as I have instructions. I am also starting to focus on health nowadays so ideally a cookbook with health conscious recipes. I also don’t want to get 1 cook book of a single cuisine and eat that cuisine forever until I get a new one. So what is a cook cookbook to commit to given all of this? submitted by /u/Internal-Ad3756 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Cookbook missing one page.

I am scanning The 1976 Congressional Cookbook, to be available on archive.org, and I found it's missing a page (305-306). Possibly a favorite by the book's previous owner? This is certainly unlikely, but I am hoping someone has this cookbook and could get me a picture of the page? Thank you. submitted by /u/JazzfanRS [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Scanning a cookbook to a searchable pdf.

I have a 700 page cookbook from a community library box (those bookcases posted outside for people to share) I want to scan it and upload it to archive.org (and share the link to it here but I want the text to be searchable as well, not just pictures of the pages. Has anyone else ever done anything like this? EDIT: I can save the scanned pages as .pdf and they are already searchable. Thanks for all the interest. submitted by /u/JazzfanRS [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm looking for a UK edition of Hannah Che's The Vegan Chinese Kitchen in the US (because cooking by volume measures sucks)

I know I can just buy the US version but I vastly prefer cookbooks that go by weights instead of volume measures. It's simply my preferred workflow. Would rather not pay import shipping, though if I really need to I have friends in the UK who can help. submitted by /u/Cymbal_Monkey [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Companies That Still Produce Free 'Brand Cookbooks"?

We've all seen free brand books from various companies like Jello or Miracle Whip, but how many companies still produce free physical brand cookbooks in 2024? I recently sent off for one on the side of a box of Jiffy cornbread mix and now I'm curious to how many I can collect. submitted by /u/RadioControlled13 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
