After weeks of rumours and an appearance at the LIV Golf pro-am Thursday at Trump Bedminster, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has decided not to join the Saudi-backed circuit’s broadcast team.
“I want to thank Greg Norman and LIV for their interest in me,” Barkley told the New York Post. “I wish those guys great success and nothing but the best. But, in my best interest, and being fair to Turner—because Turner and basketball have given me every single thing in my life—it is best for me to move on and I’m staying with Turner for the rest of my TV career.”

Australian Jason Day and Tiger Woods have long had a close relationship. But with former world No.1 Day struggling with form over the past three years, he has leaned on 15-time Major winner Woods’ advice more than ever.
Day was showing a fellow pro texts from Woods recently, which were super golf-nerdy discussions about technique. Fascinating viewing for any golf fan:
Ever wondered what @JDayGolf and @TigerWoods text about?
Spoiler: It's golf. pic.twitter.com/ihfT4kvWjk

When assuming the European Ryder Cup captaincy earlier this year Henrik Stenson made multiple assurances he wouldn’t jump to LIV Golf.
Those assurances were broken last week when the former Open champ defected to the new circuit, a decision that led to Stenson losing his Ryder Cup appointment. On Thursday, Stenson did his best to distance himself from those previous remarks while asserting it wasn’t his fault he lost the captaincy.
Speaking to the media at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster ahead of the third LIV Golf Invitational, Stenson made it clear that, in his opinion, the stripped Ryde ..read more

Ryder Cup Europe appears to have its man. Again.
According to reports in multiple British newspapers, subsequently confirmed by a Golf Digest source with intimate knowledge of the issue, Luke Donald is expected to be named the captain of the 2023 European Ryder Cup team that will compete in Italy. His appointment comes after the removal of LIV Golf-bound Henrik Stenson from the role last week. An official announcement is expected to be made on Monday, according to a second source. Donald would be the first Englishman since Nick Faldo in 2008 to assume the non-playing position.

For a while, Hideki Matsuyama held the club-drop-that-was-actually-a-good-shot crown. On Thursday at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Mark Hubbard stole said crown and may be keeping it on his head for good.
At Detroit Golf Club’s par-3 11th, which measures at 216 yards, Hubbard went full Hideki and dropped his club almost immediately after impact. We’re talking 0.00001 seconds after ball hit club, the universal tour pro sign of absolutely despising how the contact felt.
But it couldn’t have been nearly as bad as Hubbard thought. Much like a Brett Favre throw across the field on 3rd-and-15, Hubbar ..read more

There are certain things golf fans have come to expect when they watch tour coverage. Tiger Woods wearing red on Sunday, Kevin Na walking in putts, and Jordan Spieth talking to his golf ball. A lot.
But in recent years perhaps no golfer has been more associated with a signature move more than Hideki Matsuyama. The 2021 Masters champ gets to the top of his backswing and makes a pronounced pause before starting the downswing and, usually, hitting a perfect shot. Even if he doesn’t react like it’s perfect.
But in a video shared on Wednesday, Matsuyama is seen hitting a driver with no su ..read more

Remember those old “these guys are good” commercials? Of course you do. They’re probably the best ad campaign the PGA Tour ever concocted. They were effective because they were simple and drove at the heart of why we watch professional golf:
Because these guys do stuff we can only dream of everytime they stand over a golf ball (or shopping trolley, as it were).
We aren’t dredging up grainy YouTube videos of guys who aren’t even tour players anymore purely out of nostalgia, however. On Tuesday, TaylorMade released this video of world No.1 Scottie Scheffler guessing the distance of each club i ..read more

As LIV Golf rolls into New Jersey this week for its third event, LIV executives are beginning to shed light on two main questions surrounding the upstart circuit: how it plans to proceed in the near future – shifting to a league format for 2023 – and who precisely it will be proceeding with.
As the rumour mill continues with speculation, half-truths or flat-out lies about more PGA Tour players leaving for LIV, sources say the opposite problem has surfaced: there may not be enough spots left at LIV for interested players. Multiple managers from different agencies have told Golf Digest that whil ..read more

We’re not even sure if the players who have gone to LIV Golf can afford these. Adidas and Gucci have collaborated to release a range of items that includes perhaps the most expensive golf bag ever created.
The vintage red leather adidas/Gucci golf bag, made in Italy, will cost you $US19,500 ($A28,000). Yes, that’s right, a $A28,000 golf bag.
So, what do you get for your money? The Gucci website reads:
“Part of the adidas x Gucci collection, this golf bag features the Gucci Trefoil print. adidas and Gucci venture into a collection, where the Web juxtaposes with the three white stripes, and the ..read more
