Be sure to check out the latest NHL playoff odds with online sportsbook Betway. It’s hard to know exactly where things went wrong for Sam Lafferty this season. But make no mistake, they definitely went wrong. How else do you explain a player that had nine goals, 18 points and was +15 in the first half of the season but struggled mightily over the second half to the point he was a healthy scratch for a couple of playoff games? In the second half of the schedule, the 29-year-old winger was limited to just four goals, six points and was a team-worst -11 (when nobody else was worse ..read more

Seravalli: Canucks were shocked to hear Pettersson blame part of his play on injured knee
Canucks Army
by Mike Gould

Daily Faceoff hockey insider Frank Seravalli made an appearance on Friday’s edition of Sekeres & Price to discuss the season that was for the Vancouver Canucks — and, most notably, to share more of his thoughts on Canucks centre Elias Pettersson. After recording 34 goals and 89 points in 82 games during the 2023-24 regular season, Pettersson managed just one goal and six points in 13 playoff contests. His play noticeably tapered off down the stretch, particularly after he agreed to terms on an eight-year, $11.6 million contract extension with the Canucks. Although Pettersson ..read more

This article is a presentation of Toyota Pacific Dealers! Check out the 2024 BZ4X at ShopToyota.ca Folks, there has been an awful lot of discussion surrounding one Ilya Mikheyev in the early goings of the 2024 offseason. And, as you can plainly see from the headline above, we’ve got more on the way. But much of the initial chatter has been around general solutions toward Mikheyev and the discrepancy between his performance and salary. There’s been talk of a buyout, of  a trade with retention, or perhaps an unretained trade with some sort of sweetener attached. But what has perhaps been mi ..read more

Why trading Ilya Mikheyev is a better option than buying him out: Canucks Conversation
Canucks Army
by Clarke Corsan
13h ago
On yesterday’s episode of Canucks Conversation, David Quadrelli and Harman Dayal discussed the different ways Vancouver can try to move on from Ilya Mikheyev after a pretty poor season from him.  Mikheyev started off strong in Van City—after the first month of the season, he was among the Canucks’ top forwards for 5-on-5 goals. However, he would go on to be a non-factor for basically the rest of the season. Scoring just 1 goal in his last 61 games of the year, he finished with 11 goals and 31 points in 78 games.  “Calculating the buyout of the remaining two years of Ilya Mikheyev’s c ..read more

While there were so many storylines in what was the third most successful season in Vancouver Canucks history, but none bigger than the evolution of Quinn Hughes. And that’s not to say he wasn’t already elite, but Canucks fans watched the young defenceman take that leap into superstardom and solidify himself into the conversation for one of the league’s best. In his exit interviews, Hughes had this to say as he reflected on his season: “Obviously really proud of the team and the steps we took this year. It was a great season, and I thought we had built a lot. A lot of different guys stepped up ..read more

This article is a presentation of Toyota Pacific Dealers! Check out the 2024 BZ4X at ShopToyota.ca The Vancouver Canucks are certainly going to have some decisions to make this offseason. On the heels of a season in which they won the Pacific Division crown, the Canucks’ management regime is tasked with figuring out how to improve their roster after multiple players turned in career-best seasons. Of course, the big caveat is improving their roster when eleven of the players from this past season’s roster are due new contracts, with nine of them set to hit free agency on July 1st. They’re not g ..read more

Why re-signing Elias Lindholm just doesn’t make sense for the Vancouver Canucks
Canucks Army
by Jeff Paterson

Be sure to check out the latest NHL playoff odds with online sportsbook Betway. In a perfect world, the Vancouver Canucks would start the 2024-25 schedule with the three centres they finished this past season with. But it’s not a perfect world and for that reason — and others — it’s unlikely the Canucks will be able to retain the services of pending unrestricted free agent Elias Lindholm. The 29-year-old Swede will be looking to cash in on the open market and as things stand right now looks to be one of the most sought after commodities who will be shopping his skills when Natio ..read more

After the Vancouver Canucks and Assistant Coach Mike Yeo had mutually agreed to part ways, Yeo, 50, is set to pursue a new opportunity “closer to home,” according to The Province’s Patrick Johnston. Yeo spent the past two seasons with the Canucks, joining Bruce Boudreau’s staff in July 2022. During his time with Vancouver, he was responsible for managing the team’s penalty kill (PK). In the 2022-23 season, the Canucks’ PK unit finished last in the league.
