Our Country High Performance pathway trials will commence again this November, as Basketball Victoria will host the 2022 Country-Metro Challenge trials on 20-21 November.
The trials will help Basketball Victoria’s High Performance staff and Country state team coaches select the 2022 Country teams to compete at the Country-Metro Challenge, a four-day tournament in Melbourne to replace the cancelled Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup (ACJBC), East Coast Challenge (ECC) and Southern Cross Challenge (SCC).

Basketball Victoria is inviting Directors of Coaching to submit athlete nominations for the 2022 Victorian Under-20 Men’s and Women’s teams.
Athletes must meet the below criteria:
Eligible players must not turn 20 years of age prior to 31 December 2022 (ie. they must be born in 2003/2004).
They must be participating in a competition being conducted by Basketball Australia or Basketball Victoria.
Players must be nominated by the VJBL Association with which they are registered.

Basketball Victoria would like to announce Scott Christiansen has been newly appointed as our Victoria Metropolitan Under-16 Men’s Head Coach.
Due to previously announced head coach David Peters having to step away from state duties due to NBL1 South commitments, Scott Christiansen has been elevated to take the reins of the Vic Metro team ahead of next year’s championships in Perth, Western Australia.

Basketball Victoria is aware a number of clubs from Basketball Hawthorn’s Junior Domestic Competition have indicated they intend to move to Camberwell Basketball Association and build a new junior competition in early 2022.
A report recommending a thorough independent investigation of all matters pertaining to these circumstances is currently before the BV Board.

Country Victorian athletes have been selected from this year’s Under-14 Academy Program with 252 girls and boys selected to attend the camp at Bendigo Stadium on 13 November (boys) and 14 November (girls).
The camp will be run with the health and safety of all attendees, coaches and families in mind, with all guidelines from the Chief Health Officer and Victorian Government to be implemented (full details to come).
