Once upon a time, in a bustling city, there was a bar called "The Tipsy Turtle." It was a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, known for its lively atmosphere, delicious drinks, and friendly bartenders. One night, a group of friends decided to have a night out at The Tipsy Turtle. They were celebrating a friend's promotion and were in high spirits, eager to let loose and have some fun. As they walked in, they noticed that the bar was packed, and the music was pumping. The bartender greeted them with a smile and asked what they wanted to drink. After a few rounds of shots and beers ..read more

AITA: overly helpful/grabby co-worker

AITA? I had a 'co-worker' who would regularly 'help' me by ringing up a drink while I was still taking the order, taking things (like a dirty/empty glass) out of my hands while I was talking to a customer, mixing a turn-and-burn for me/the customer (or pulling a can/beer), before I could turn around, etc. At this place, there is no competition or advantage for running the tab for yourself, it ran from a common drawer (that's another topic entirely) and the whole pattern seemed more related to their compulsion to always be busy and the possibility exists that they genuinely thought they were h ..read more

(Apologies for the formatting as I'm on mobile and I've never written a story on reddit before) I (f20) bartend at a pretty chill spot in the city. Most of the customers are lovely. I absolutely love the people I work with too. My coworker who we will call M has always encouraged me to assert myself and not to take abuse from customers. He has often told me "You are the queen of the bar!" I was behind the bar serving 3 dudes who were a bit rude but it didn't bother me enough to say anything. Dude 1 was telling me it was his birthday and to make the drink "extra nice." I gave his drink the sam ..read more

Hi! I am a graduate student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and I am pursuing my degree in work psychology. I am also a server during the weekends and have been since I was in undergrad. I’m conducting an independent study at UTC with a classmate. We are collecting industry data from current servers and bartenders. Our study aims to identify factors that protect staff from incivility experiences of sexual harassment while they are with customers. If you have the time, please consider taking our survey. We only need about 100-150 participants to complete data analysis, so if y ..read more

Hi Everyone, I've been in the industry for eleven years in a variety of different venues, ranging from speakeasies, hotel bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and pubs. I'm putting together a body of work and would love to hear your stories from workplaces. Be it the incestuous nature of romance in hospitality, that one dickhead manager, a blossoming work friendship, or conversations whilst having a drink/smoke/bite to eat at the end of a busy shift. Thank you, and have a nice day Idle submitted by /u/IdleKvasr [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
