Recently I’ve been feeling the pressure to post my pole journey on Instagram more often. I’m not entirely sure where this feeling originated from (probably using IG too much), however after delving into it somewhat I have come to the conclusion that feeling like this is not helpful and is, for me personally, a load of old bollocks.
This blog has been inspired by posts from the wise and wonderful Dree, Lottie and Nyavka, who all mentioned the pressure to post on IG, focusing more on getting aesthetic tricks recorded as opposed to a nemesis move conquered privately and IG distorting our ow ..read more

I’ve been pole dancing now for nine years and I’ll hold my hands up and admit that true authenticity is not always something I have put at the forefront of my practice. In the past, I adopted much more of a one size fits all approach, and attempted to get all my pole dance needs met from just one instructor or studio on multiple occasions. Whilst some element of this was down to financial constraints, this was mainly due to my lack of education and knowledge on how important it is to learn a craft from those who live, eat and breathe it.
For example, in recent years and going forward I only le ..read more

As I sit down to write this blog I’m honestly in two minds about posting it. If you’ve been following Chrome Chronicles for a while, you will know that my blogs are usually of a light hearted, funny and sometimes controversial nature, however this one is the first time in about 12 years that I’m attempting to write something a bit more candid. Fear not, this isn’t going to be a load of soppy bollocks, instead it’s going to be an honest take on the current state of my pole dance journey so far, where I wanted it to go and why I’ve decided to take a different path for the future. If you’re at a ..read more

Back in the 80s and 90s, you could guarantee every January like clockwork a horde of C list celebrities would release their own workout video. Whether it was the nation’s favourite soap star or the recent Big Brother winner, they would be jumping (literally) on the “new year new me” bandwagon bollocks and releasing a workout video for you and your best mate to gallop around the living room to.
Cast your minds back even deeper into your childhood, and you’ll recall that every one of these workout videos had a moderator doing the easy version of the routine. Whilst the C list celeb w ..read more

Your girl finally fucking did it. After at least three solid years of stress, anguish and pure infuriation, I have finally conquered one of my major nemesis moves – the Sneaky Bastard V!
Those of you who have been following Chrome Chronicles for a while now will remember that I detested this move so much that I wrote an entire blog post dedicated to my hatred for it. Honestly every time we attempted the Sneaky V in class (which was a hell of a lot as it’s one of my instructor Eloise’s go-to moves) I would grimace, and quiet often let out a sly “fucks sake” knowing that I was going to hav ..read more

After being a static pole diehard for the first eight years of my pole journey and leaving one of my first spinny pole classes in tears, I have finally after years of practice converted to the dark side and decided that spinny is where it’s at. Yes I said it.
Honestly I never thought I would be a spinny pole queen, and I’m pretty certain my switch to camp spinny took both my pole mates and instructor by surprise too. Like I said, the second or third time I attempted spinny pole I left the class in tears after not being able to achieve anything. That probably had more to do with the fact that I ..read more

In keeping with the performance themed posts of late, I thought I would go a little bit outside the box and interview the lovely Anna Frost. Anna is no stranger to performing at many a pole event, however since 2015 she’s been a regular performer at the legendary Glastonbury festival- which is pretty fucking cool if you ask me. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to perform not only at a festival, but at one of the biggest festivals in the world, then now’s your chance to find out.
When did you first start performing at Glasto?
My first year was 2015 – I was so frightened! I felt sup ..read more

Well holy shit. It’s Wednesday as I’m typing this, and I can categorically confirm I have finally recovered after the brilliance that was the first Heelfire Club showcase, which took place on Saturday. Yes, my adrenaline was so high and I was buzzing so much that it’s taken me a solid three days to recover.
A quick summary for those who don’t know, Heelfire Club was created by Coco Bijou and Misty Helix from Momentum Pole and Aerial in Gloucestershire (UK) as a safe and inclusive space to discover the joy of performing. After many successful monthly Heelfire Clubs at their studio ..read more

It’s been a hot minute but after a four year hiatus I am finally performing again in not one but two showcases, and I’m absolutely Barry buzzing for it! First off, I’ll be at Heelfire Club in Gloucester tomorrow (eek!) then at Defy Gravity’s October showcase over in Pembrokeshire. Honestly I feel like one of those professional pole dancers going on tour!
In case you hadn’t realised, I am so fucking excited to be hitting the stage again I feel like I could boot a locked fire door clean off its hinges. Whilst competing can become a very overwhelming and stressful experience, personally I have al ..read more

Do you ever encounter a pole move that just clicks? Like you give it a good solid go and it just clicks. There’s no agonising over it for months, no dreading it coming up in class for fear of having to face your nemesis, fail and end up feeling like a defeated mess. You just attempt it the once and right from the get go you’re comfortable in it? Well that is exactly what happened to me with my new found favourite move, the beloved Dragontail.
It’s no secret that I am a proud pole tortoise who takes longer than your average dancer to achieve a move. What most of my classmates can achieve in one ..read more
