Early yesterday morning, my upstairs neighbor left their shower on all night, which caused a big leak across my apartment. I have some damages on my bed frame and electronics. I only slept two hours that night and missed out on a lot of work. Also, I've been getting allergies anytime I'm in my apartment for longer than 20 minutes but it goes away when I'm not at my apartment.
I asked my apartment management for temporary living accommodations (like a hotel) and they said they will not arrange anything and I should file a claim via my renter's insurance to pay for it. I have a $500 deductible ..read more

This is somewhat of a follow-up from a story from last month. What's blowing my mind is that they are rehabbing/renovating 176 scattered site units for $50 million. That comes out to about $285,000 per unit! Many of those scattered sites are barely 25 years old or so? CHA has always been a mess. Maybe there's a better way to manage public housing?

So everything actually came out great, well within the margins of error I'd expect for a home test, and it's stuff I don't care as much about compared to lead. But for the lead test, our house was split on if it was positive, inconclusive, or negative. Like, its just an at home chemical strip test like a covid test with the two lines so it's def not 100% accurate, but knowing this house is over 100 years old and Chicago can have lead problems I wanna be sure.
