Exciting news: we're making the first major change to our shaving line since its inception. We started out as a shaving company, but eagle-eyed Thomas Clipper fans may have noticed that our popular shaving bowls and brushes - handmade, cruelty free and generally the bees knees - have been unavailable on our website for a couple of weeks. That's because we are making a fairly fundamental change to our soaps that we're really excited about. We've not altered our shave soap since launching it on Kickstarter many moons ago. But about a year ago our soap maker in Wells Next The Sea told ..read more

Is A Safety Razor Better?
Thomas Clipper Blog | Shaving Tips
by Matt Brown

More precise, cleaner and better for sensitive skin - and that's before we mention the plastic saved in our all metal razors. In short safety razor shaving is better: here's why... 1. MORE PRECISE: YOU CONTROL THE ANGLE OF THE BLADE & THE CLOSENESS OF THE SHAVE You can actually see where you're cutting, which means shaving is simpler, and shaping stubble is much easier. It also means you don't pass over the same patches several times just to get a pesky hair or two. Fewer passes makes for less irritation and better skin (shown below, The Perfect Shaving Set from Thomas Clipper). &nbs ..read more

Tis the season of fast: fast deals on the heels fast approaching holidays. We don't know about you, but it can sometimes feel a bit much... We recorded the interview and can now present it to you as an antidote to the excess speed of the Christmas season. Tip: click 'Listen In Browser' on mobile if you'd rather not download the app.   For the uninitiated, the Slow Movement started with Slow Food as a reaction to ‘Fast Food’ in the 80s. The timing isn't a coincidence ..read more

A double edge safety razor is the best way to get a barber shop shave at home. In this post, Matt (one of the co-founders of Thomas Clipper) gives his top tips for a perfect shave. Step 1: Preparation Is Everything First get your blade loaded - we recommend Shark for sensitive skin in a plastic-free package. Put on some music, fill up the sink with piping hot water and pop in your razor and brush. Wet your flannel and hold it to your face to really get your skin warmed up, then rub to exfoliate. We recommend that you  shower before you shave, not after - this gives your face even lo ..read more

"It’s been a revelation" - Ernest Journal Reviews The Mark K Razor
Thomas Clipper Blog | Shaving Tips
by Antonio Weiss

The fantastic Ernest Journal has penned a ringing endorsement of the benefits of double edge shaving in general and our flagship Mark K razor in particular. Going into the history of the double edge shaving revival, the journal writes: "The skills of traditional shaving died as the modern razor took over, pushed by marketing men who recognised that, by selling a cheap razor and tying you into buying very expensive blades, they ensure a good profit. But, in my experience, multiple blades require more passes to achieve a close cut and cost maybe ten times as much as a single-edged ..read more
