As mentioned before, I’m crazy excited to introduce our granddaughter to the joys of a Disney vacation. I can’t wait to see her reaction to characters, rides and all the sights, sounds, and flavors we can find for her to enjoy. Personally, I am looking forward to quite a few things by myself. When I focus on staying “in the moment” while I’m at WDW, it’s amazing what random experiences stick in my mind as being particularly wonderful. I know what I’m most looking forward to changes for every visit, but this time the top ten are…. Drumroll, Please 10. The Electrical Water Pageant. Sure, there’s ..read more

Living a Disney Life

It’s been a rough 16 months since our last visit to Walt Disney World for the 2020 Dopey Challenge. It’s time for a much needed vacation. While the main components of our upcoming getaway are familiar, there are quite a few factors that have made planning this trip vastly different from our usual modus operandi. First and most importantly, we are taking our granddaughter, Violet, for her first visit! She may only be two, but she already loves Disney. She’s a big fan of princesses in general and Buzz Lightyear in particular. I know I’m partial, but Violet happens to have an exceptionally sunny ..read more

We absolutely did not want to miss out on an opportunity to experience Rise of the Resistance and had only one morning to work it out. We did it! Here’s how it went… Note: Currently, to experience this attraction, guests must first enter Disney’s Hollywood Studios park and use the My Disney Experience app to obtain a boarding group number. The numbers have been going fast once they become available for booking. Currently, that booking window begins when the Disney’s Hollywood Studios is officially open for the day. Once a boarding group number has been assigned, guests can use the app (tip: t ..read more

There are so many cool animals to see at Walt Disney World! In Animal Kingdom, between the walking trails, the exhibits, and Kilimanjaro Safaris – the number of birds, reptiles, fish, and mammals guests can see and, more importantly, learn about is amazing. Today I want to share with you some fun facts about one of the cutest and most bashful animals you can find in Animal Kingdom – The Okapi. Watch for Okapis – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Okapis are shy. So shy, in fact, that their existence remained nothing but a rumor (like unicorns) until around 1901! They hide from their only predators, leop ..read more

Dopey Challenge 2020 – Training is Over

We’re finished! After many months of long runs, short runs, hill runs and tempo runs. Running in the dark, running in the heat, and running in the rain – it’s time to put all those training miles to the test. Joseph is confident! I’m nervous. I’ve run a marathon before and I know how painful it is. I’ve never, ever run a marathon after running a 5K, 10K, and half marathon first. The Plan We weren’t able to stick to the plan exactly, but we did our best. A few obstacles got in the way and we made every effort to work around them. To stay motivated, I sweet-talked Joseph into getting up at 4:3 ..read more

We didn’t know what to expect. For sure, I had my doubts. Would we even find Disney World’s newest form of transportation convenient? We hopped on the Skyliner and were surprised by what happened next! Walt Disney World Skyliner – Taking Flight! After the infamous Skyliner breakdown during its first week of operation, there was lots of chatter about Disney’s gondola system. Positives and negatives crowded social media as Walt Disney World guests took to the sky for the first time. According to many, fear of heights, motion-sickness, and concern about overheating were top reasons for avoiding ..read more
