Dr. Selby was hugely popular among American Wet Shavers 10 years ago or so. Then, seemingly overnight, it disappeared. Made in Uruguay, Dr. Selby lacked a U.S. Distributor and became impossible to source. I am happy to announce that it is back and will soon be available to order from BullGoose Shaving Supplies.Dr. Selby is only available in one scent (a classic Lavender) and comes in your choice of a hard soap housed in an art deco style bowl or a shaving cream in a tube. Both soap and cream lat ..read more

Try An Injector For Everyday Shaving
BullGoose Shaving Blog

The nice thing about the wet shaving industry is that there are different tools for different jobs. For example, Slant razors are great for mowing down multiple days worth of stubble and an artist club razor is perfect for handling a tough wiry beard. The problem is that when someone uses the wrong tool for a particular job, they may end up with irritation and/or a shave that is not as close as they prefer. I personally cannot use a slant razor on a daily basis without feeling a bit of discomfor ..read more

The Shield Stomper Has Arrived
BullGoose Shaving Blog

The Shield Stomper is CNC machined out of Titanium and is designed to use half of a DE blade. Weighing in at only 68g, it is light and nimble. I would characterize it as a mild razor but not at all in a bad way. It is mild enough that you can let your mind wander while shaving without the threat of nicking yourself yet, it is efficient enough to deliver a BBS shave in two passes plus minor touch up. This is definitely a razor that you can comfortably use everyday. The Stomper takes standard DE bl ..read more

Heinrich Thater has been making superb hand tied shaving brushes since 1913 in Germany. They have survived two world wars, The Spanish Flu, The Great Depression, The Cold War and so much more. Unfortunately, this 110 year old company was brought to its knees by the COVID Pandemic of 2020 and the resultant supply chain issues. I received noticed late last week that they are closing their doors for good. Known for their extremely high quality silvertip badger brushes, H.L. Thater recently add ..read more

Furbo -An Italian Institution Since 1978

We are excited to announce that we will soon be stocking Furbo, a well known and respected Italian brand. Furbo was born in 1978 after an Italian publishing house published a book about Marco Balocchi and his passion for beard care. Shortly after the book was published, Marco decided to resurrect some products from the past...products that could no longer be found anywhere. The flagship product of Furbo is their pre shave gel which uses a unique gelled alcohol that evaporates and adheres perfectly to the skin, leaving no oxygen between the skin and the blade. This gel is reactivated with the m ..read more

Sneak Peek of Injector Sized Asylum Razor
BullGoose Shaving Blog
by Phil Huntsinger

Back in 2012 when we designed the Asylum Rx, we also designed a smaller head version of the razor that takes injector blades. We never produced the injector razor because it proved to be nearly impossible (and very expensive) to machine due to the tight radiuses. So...we put it on the back burner. In the fall of 2021 when we decided to re-release the Asylum Rx, we also decided to re-examine the injector sized version. Since we switched manufacturing processes to precision metal injection, the possibilities were endless. We are happy to announce that we have received the final prototype for the ..read more

It's Back! The Cadillac of Bowls
BullGoose Shaving Blog

Most shave soap tins will dent if you look at them funny or give them the hairy eyeball. Heaven help you if you bang your razor on it or gasp...drop it. The consequences can be even worse if you have a ceramic bowl rather than a tin...sharp shards of ceramic are not a pleasant thing to have in the bathroom. You can always go with a wooden bowl but, wood and water do not make for a great long-term relationship. Plastic? Fugly! And don't forget the whales and sea turtles. The Asylum Bowl is different! It is machined out of aircraft grade aluminum and then hard anodized to make it virtually indes ..read more
