Hi! How are you? I hope you have had a good start to April and are enjoying the beginning of the new season. I know we’re already a little more than a week into the month but I wanted to get back to writing these monthly posts where I celebrate the small joys. When life gets busy or when your mind is busy, it’s more important than ever to stop and take some time to appreciate the little things that bring you joy so that’s what I’m doing today. Besides, this is me trying to ease myself back into blogging. I’ve been neglecting this space for so long that it feels like I forgot how to do it. I ..read more

Notes From January.

January didn’t feel like the longest month of the year to me as it usually does. Work was busy and in my free time I tried to take better care of myself: reading and spending as much time as I could outside, starting new habits, being more sociable which I kind of forgot how to, and embracing the little things that brought me joy throughout the month… The biggest (and most surprising!) highlight from January was starting to work out regularly. With a little motivation from the start of a new year, I signed up for MadFit’s 21 day challenge and I’m proud to say that I completed it. I missed a ..read more

Hi! Wow, it’s been a minute since I published something on this little corner on the Internet. How are you doing? Did you have a good start to 2022? The start of a new year always makes me feel hopeful and motivated and I’m looking forward to seeing what 2022 brings. One of my intentions for the new year is to get back to writing, even if it’s just every now and then so here I am. And if you’re reading this, thank you for still being here! Before I get on with 2022, I wanted to do a little recap of 2021. While I’m very grateful that my family and I are all healthy and that I got to do some wo ..read more

Hello October. Wasn’t expecting you to arrive so quickly but I’m happy to see you and looking forward to this beautiful time of the year. Anyway, I’m back with another installment of the monthly notes with a few little things that made my heart feel a little happier in September. Hope you had a lovely month! Notes From September A trip to Mallorca. The highlight of September and something that I had been waiting for for a very long time. It was a trip booked in late 2019 and postponed twice, which made it even more special. I’m incredibly lucky to have been able to travel again after so ..read more

Welcome to another round of book reviews! This time, dedicated to Summer beach reads. I love Summer reading. There’s nothing better than sitting outside on a warm Sunday morning with a good book or reading at the beach between dips in the ocean to cool down. During this time of the year, you’ll most likely find me reading contemporary romance books and I’ve read some wonderful ones so far! People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry If you love contemporary romance and/or are looking for an escape read, do yourself a favor and pick up this book. It was SO good! Every Summer, Poppy and Ale ..read more

28 Things About Me

Do you ever feel like you’re getting older and feeling younger? I celebrated my birthday just over a week ago and I’m definitely not feeling 28 despite what my ID says. I can’t deny that it is a bit scary to be nearing my thirties, but I hope that, in this new chapter of life, I can let go of all the shoulds that come with age and find the love and acceptance to be who I am, right here and right now, while pursuing my dreams. Well, in honor of my birthday, I’m sharing a rare selfie for those of you who don’t know me and my age in facts. If we have anything in common, please let me know in the ..read more

Happy August! I can’t quite believe July is over and we’re now entering my birthday month because as I type this, I’m listening to the sound of rain falling outside. While it’s a soothing sound to write to, I’m looking forward to the actual Summer weather which, fingers crossed, comes with the beginning of August. Well, enough chat about the weather. For me, July was about spending less time in front of a screen (besides work, of course) and more time with family, books, and fun macrame projects. It was exactly what I needed. So, here are some of my favorite moments from July. 01. I’m hal ..read more

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these monthly recaps, I’ve missed them! So I’m happy to sit down on this sunny public holiday here in Portugal and reflect on the past month – even though we’re already more than a week into June. How was your May? It was an ok month for me. It started a bit rocky with me feeling uninspired and unmotivated but ended on a positive note with a day trip with my parents and a long-awaited lunch with friends. Notes from May. 01. Feeling uninspired. In the last couple of months or so, I really struggled with a lack of inspiration and motivation which w ..read more

Books are and always have been such an escape for me. When I’m feeling anxious and overwhelmed, I love picking up a book and escaping into another world, forgetting for a while what’s been worrying my mind. Even more so in the last year. So I thought it would be fun to start sharing what I’ve been reading recently. I hope you enjoy it! And please, let me know your book recommendations – I’m always happy to add more books to my very long list My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel This was the first book I read this year, and a very uncomfortable one, let me tell you. It tells the story of ..read more

A Day In My Life
Notes from Joana
by Joana

Maybe I’m a bit nosy but one of my favorite blog posts to read is the ones where people share a day in their life. I love getting a glimpse into their day and see what is similar and different from my own daily routines. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to share what I get up to on an average weekday. A Day In My Life 07:20 My alarm goes off at around 07:20 and for the next 10 minutes or so I try to find the motivation to get out of my comfy + warm bed and start my day. I recently fell into the bad habit of snoozing my alarm twice. It feels really nice to snooze it and go back ..read more
