I'm new to this, and currently have 80k miles with Amex Platinum. I know that in the next 6 months I'll be buying 2 roundtrip tickets from San Francisco to either Zürich, or Tokyo. With that being said, does it make sense to take advantage of the 30% bonus transfer to Virgin and assume I'll be able to use those points when the time comes, or is there a better place / way to use these points for flights to those locations? Booked a trip for next week and initially ended up just paying cash for round trip which ended up being $430 main cabin on the AA app. However didn’t realize the points purchase was much better at 18K points. I went ahead and put that ticket on hold (now same ticket is 36k points).
