Team Cigar Review: Protocol Lawmen Series Phoebe Couzins Natural
Developing Palates

It's been a hot minute since reviewing a new Protocol. At one point (maybe two years ago) it felt like it was at times hard to get through them all. Happy to say, the new iteration of the Lawman Series is a hitter. For those that love Espinosa powerhouse spice and softness in creamy nuttiness, not only is this Protocol Lawmen Series Phoebe Couzins Natural it, but it is a lengthier version of it. I'll be back for more. The post Team Cigar Review: Protocol Lawmen Series Phoebe Couzins Natural appeared first on Developing Palates - Cigar, Beer and Spirit Reviews and Ratings ..read more

Personal Cigar Review: El Rey del Mundo Shade Grown Robusto
Developing Palates
by John McTavish

I found the El Rey del Mundo Shade Grown Robusto to be pleasant, but largely linear for the review, except for a few minutes during the start of the first third. By the last third, the profile was largely wood driven which did not engage my interest. Overall, this isn't likely something I'd return to, but the price point is very affordable in the current market and I could see it appealing to budget smokers or smokers looking for a light bodied daily cigar. Team Cigar Review: My Father La Union Black Prominente Especial
Developing Palates

The My Father La Union Black Prominente Especial was a disappointment. While the first third was good, the overall feel was that the cigar lacked depth and complexities. Being such a long smoke, it needs to do a much better job of engaging and keeping my attention. The first third was able to do that, but starting from the second third, I was smoking it just for the review and didn't find much enjoyment out of it. Definitely save your $60 bucks and look elsewhere. The post Team Cigar Review: My Father La Union Black Prominente Especial appeared first on Developing Palates - Cigar, Beer and Spi ..read more

Team Cigar Review: Te Amo The Original San Andrés Valley Cigar Toro

The Te Amo The Original San Andrés Valley Cigar Toro provides a respectable update to the Te Amo brand. I found the first third delivered the most interesting and engaging flavor combinations, with the second third still being pleasant but not as dynamic. The last third was too linear for my taste. While the Te Amo The Original San Andrés Valley Cigar Toro didn't do quite enough for me to want to return to it, I do think it's an improvement over the original series. Personal Cigar Review: Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 Limited Edition
Developing Palates

This Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 Limited Edition was a nice Double Corona. From beginning to end it had my attention with the flavors delivered and it’s balance. Nice level of complexity. Not much transitioning, but you don't find that a lot with Davidoff. It did have that solid and fairly complex core flavor profile however, and the peanut butter notes were enjoyable. The combination of spices with that made for a nice touch on the finish. Team Cigar Review: Punch Dragon Fire
Developing Palates

The start of the Punch Dragon Fire offered up some interesting flavor combinations, but for the remainder of the review, the profile was linear and lacked the dynamic character of the first third. Overall, there wasn't much here to elevate the Punch Dragon Fire from the crowd, although it was overall a pleasant cigar to review and the price point is quite attractive. Team Cigar Review: E.P. Carrillo Encore Black
Developing Palates
by Aaron Loomis

The E.P. Carrillo Encore Black had a nice start with a good balance of flavors, but the profile took a step down from the second third on as the earth steadily increased and the pepper fluctuated in fullness. Overall, not a cigar I'd really see myself coming back to as the profile wasn't all that intriguing. The post Team Cigar Review: E.P. Personal Cigar Review: Bolivar Gran Republica Robusto
Developing Palates

The Bolivar Gran Republica Robusto was a pleasant cigar to review, with some complex combinations of flavors through the first third. The remainder of the cigar was still pleasant but a little simple overall in the flavor presentation. I don't think there was enough flavor delivery here to make me seek this out again, however the price point is very attractive so I could see recommending this to cigar smokers in the below medium strength category.
