January is noted for being the month that most people make New Year’s resolutions. I’m going to lose weight, I’m going to quit smoking, I’m going to take more time for myself and the possibilities are endless. I remember one year Brian and I did a New Year’s Day hike. Brian and I arrived down to Palm Springs California last Friday afternoon to be greeted by our wonderful American friends. We are truly blessed to be able to escape the cold and come where it is warm sunny and relaxing. We are able to walk bike and I’m even getting back into golf. The days might be as relaxing anymore. On Sunday we were invited by friends to join them at the Pride parade. I think it is fantastic that Saskatoon has a parade and people join in celebrating diversity and union. The news this last week has been horrific from the States and in Canada!  It is mind-boggling how people have so much hatred for someone they have never met. I am sure that most of us do not begin each day with the thought, “this could be my last day on this earth.” It’s kind of a morbid thought, or is it? I am often asked why Brian and I enjoy Palm Springs California so much. Well, outside of the obvious (the weather) there are many other reasons. We have been so blessed to know the wonderful people we have met there.   When we moved to the block where we live now back in 2007, there was a woman there battling cancer. Every day since we first met, I have seen Pat out walking with her walker, with her makeup, hair, and nails all done and a huge smile on her face.
