N64 PAL Pikachu edition

Hello everybody, I've recently bought a PAL N64 Pikachu edition (I live in Germany) and had to discover, that the quality is a little bit pixelated. After doing some research I know why, but not what to do now exactly. Decent options would usually be to mod it, but then again I've read a post that said, this version of the console could not be modded? OR to buy some upscalers. If I got it right, the most viable options would be either the "Retrotink 2X-pro" or the "RAD2X". What I didn't really understand is which of those two would be better? Some posts say the RAD is enough, some say it woul ..read more

Review of Brain Lord (SNES)

After years of being curious about it, I finally played Brain Lord. Now I feel the need to vent a bit and twitter just isn't enough space. Brain Lord is effectively an action RPG that boils the game down almost completely to dungeons. There are only two very small areas of "overworld" and time spent in town gathering information is relatively short. Nearly the entire game takes place in the 5 huge dungeons. The story is a bit haphazard and may very well have been tacked on. You start out as a bounty/treasure hunter but end up finding out that your character is a decendant of people who rode o ..read more

Nes console and Nordic decor

So I got a nes console and a 12 inch crt. But I can't find any ideas of how to add it to my modern Nordic design apartment. I don't have a especial place for it, just want to blend it in the decor so it won't look too out of place. Have you seen any idea that could fit this scenario? submitted by /u/Spicajames [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Super Bonk Artist

Does anyone know where I could find more artwork by the character design artist for Super Bonk (and probably the other Bonk games)? From the credits, it looks like the artist is Kobuta Aoki. That said, I'm not seeing other art online really apart from a few repeated promo images. It may not be out there, but just curious if anyone has a good resource for something like this! Thanks! submitted by /u/WhoopsyFudgeStripes [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help! Finding PS1 Game (Room-by-Room Fights, Giant Octopus Boss)
Reddit » Retro Gaming

Hey everyone, I'm finding a PS1 game from my childhood, but do not remember the name. Here's what I remember: Gameplay: You progress through the game by exploring rooms one at a time, defeating enemies in each room with a weapon (possibly a knife). The doors leading to the next room wouldn't open until you finished fighting all the enemies in the current room. The final boss encounter features a giant octopus (or perhaps a creature with many tentacles). Here's the strange part - even if you defeat the final boss, the game might say you lose! I might be wrong on this part but I am sure I have ..read more

A challenge for you retro gamers - finding a half-remembered Acorn Achimedes game

Been watching retro content about the Amiga, and for some reason this game from my childhood popped into my head. I remember it being a side-scrolling "Euro Platformer" style game, but I think it had some top-down levels as well. Art style was quite dark and grim I'm certain, at least in some levels. The main character was some kind of vehicle with a face. Pretty sure he was red with a black "bumper" around the body. Seem to remember bouncing off terrain a lot when trying to platform. I thought it had a name like "Hoverpod", but that's not turning up anything like what I remember. This is b ..read more
