I’ve seen posts of people who quit trading 5 years in and thousands in the hole. Seems like they should’ve gave up awhile ago. When do you know it’s time to give up? submitted by /u/Justjittering [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

RTX earnings breakout play

Was poring over charts this weekend looking for winning setups and I decided this is good enough I should share it. I found CAT in a similar position last August winding up into its earnings and that one worked out really well. Anyways, what I'm seeing is a government subsidized business with fundamental tailwinds breaking over this 100 level and holding into its earnings Tuesday morning. The idea is that the volume from earnings will be the catalyst to push it up into this range from 100-147 it traded in before the covid sell-off. I'm thinking of taking a couple July 19 110 calls. If my ..read more

Whats the point of daytrading?

It seems like everyone always says that time in the market beats timing the market. Do you believe this to be true? and if so, why go through all the effort and pursuit of knowledge to day trade when you can just invest long term? submitted by /u/Lazy_Dimension1854 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello guys, I wish everyone a great trading week. I want to share my analysis with you and get your opinions about it. Does my analysis make sense to you? Am I fooling myself into doing a good job? How would you approach? Any comment from you pros would help a lot. Thank you. Analysis Week of 22 April 2024 Polygon MATIC I think 0.62-0.66 area was a strong demand zone and a cheap price for short term. Market has been negative but price action looks good. It’s giving reversal vibes. Price rose on Saturday and made a higher low on Sunday. Also, BTC.D seems to be weakening. Usually, other coi ..read more

The difference between selling option contract and exercising?

Okay, so this may be a dumb question, but I'll accept my fate haha. I've been researching and learning for a while, but there's one thing I can't seem to find a clear answer on. I understand the process behind exercising options and what it entails. When it comes to selling your contracts instead, I understand that it's just like selling off a position you own, but it's the contract. If I'm wrong there, let me know. As far as how the value of said contract is calculated, I've read about the Greeks and how time decay affects value. I'm not sure I fully understand calculating the value of a con ..read more

I’m just curious. How long did it take you until you found confidence in yourself to quit your job and do trading full time! For those that quit their job but it didn’t workout, how long did you give yourself until you quit your job and what did you do after you found that trading was not successful? submitted by /u/modeezy23 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Strategy or My Execution?
Daytrading - Reddit

I have been trading for about 8 months total now. I have taken around 500 trades total (backtesting and demo trading but mostly backtesting since I only take 1 trade a day in live markets). I did not change my strategy necessarily but I wasn’t seeing much success with my original strategy and once I learned more about the market and through my mentor I realized the strategy was not high probability at all but it helped me learn about price action. So I added a couple confluences and made my strategy into a checklist/trading plan that I must see happen on the chart before executing and if it d ..read more

Hello, I am reaching out to ask for help or any advice with my trading. I usually trade for 5 days a week for 3 out of 4 weeks per month. I have been trading for the past 4 years but have yet to really breakout and become consistent. However, I have found a common trend that has been very consistent in my time trading. When I come back after a short break (maybe 1 week), I am very very consistent for my first 5-10 days trading. Pretty much every time I come back I'll have 5-10 green days in a row. Once my first red day comes, it typically leads to a full week of red days and me giving back mo ..read more

Does any Canadian day trade through a LLC/US company?

Curious to know if any Canadian (or other non-US country person) day trades through their own US company/LLC to take advantage of US brokers that have $0 commission? I use an algorithm with Interactive Brokers to day trade and their commission reduces the algo's performance quite a bit compared to paper trading at $0 commission. I am seeing if it is worth the effort to open an LLC and place trades with a $0 commission broker. submitted by /u/ButImTheDudeFromBC [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Some context first... started trading in April 2020, took a break most of last year started fresh this January 2024. In January i passed a 50k Topstep account, and blew it by mid February. Switched to Apex in march. Passed 3 Evals and got 3 PA's. Traded those 3 PA's to +$1600 each and was eligible for payout on 4.17.24 I had 15 straight green days, copy trading making between 150-500/day combined. I was so happy I passed these challenges and had $4800 awaiting to withdraw which would cover my entire trading tuition(investment) for the past 4 years. I even bought a bottle of champagne to celeb ..read more
