I’m that kind of person obsessed with series and movies that are set in New York City. It is funny to notice that before I lived here I didn’t have that feeling – I have watched Girls and Sex and the City when I was still living in Brazil, but the fact that they were set in New York was not what attracted me, but the plot, cast, and the fame. After I moved here, that feeling changed and the fact that a series or film was set in the city is enough to make us (my husband and I) feel like watching. Obviously, it was no different with Love Life, a series that debuted less than a month ago on HBO M ..read more

Since last year, because of the documentaries I watched and also because of the moment of pause that the pandemic brought to me (I know it wasn’t like that for everyone), I started to reflect a lot about my role living in New York. I know that my work helps a lot of people, but I found myself reflecting more about my existence here as a resident of the city. But, as an immigrant, how do you integrate with the place where you live? Until this pandemic happened, for example, I didn’t even know who was the governor of NY and I didn’t know the face of the mayor of the city. I think that when ..read more

One of the things I love to do is cooking. I love testing new recipes, I love receiving my friends and cooking for them, I love cooking for my family when I go to Brazil. I also love watching videos of recipes and I became a MasterChef fan. Obviously, I also love to eat. One of the things that Thiago and I enjoy a lot about living in New York is exploring the number of restaurants that exist here. And, not long ago, I discovered that I could bring home the recipes from restaurants that we enjoy. Cooking, for me, is bringing memories back and creating new ones. For me, having the chance to recr ..read more

I know that many people who follow me are also content creators – or work in the marketing field. And since I occasionally get questions about my feed on Instagram, about filters and apps, I did some stories over there giving some tips from websites and apps. The content pleased me and I decided to bring it to the blog too!
Although many people think that creating content comes down to posting a beautiful photo, there is a lot – A LOT! – of work involved behind. In my case, with a multichannel platform, I write, take photos, treat photos, do research, capture images, edit videos, record podcas ..read more

I have lived in the United States for over 6 years. I always lived in New York and I never hid how grateful I am to have this opportunity. Here in New York, I reinvented myself, I had opportunities that I probably would never have in Brazil. There are things that are better and things that are worse living here, but this is part of our existence: there is no perfect place in the world, especially for an immigrant.
Throughout this time, I was part of the dream of many people who have visited New York, who have used my tips and advice to plan a trip. I never hid my feelings for the city. B ..read more

Since the opening of Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in U.S. history since the Rockefeller Center, a year ago, the opening of Edge was one of the most anticipated attractions in New York. Edge is the new observatory in the city and, although the countdown started in 2019, its project was anticipated a few years ago and, since I heard about it, I was very excited. After all, the project was very greedy and differentiated. In addition, as a content creator, news from New York always makes me super excited. Finally, Edge opened its doors (on Wednesday, March 11) and I ha ..read more

If you follow me on Instagram – @laura_peruchi – you see that I moved to another apartment a few days ago. I ended up showing a little about moving on my stories. I talked a lot about the subject before I moved too and as I know that a lot of people who follow me live in New York, I decided to write this post to share various insights, tips, and advice. That was our third move in New York. The first was when we arrived and stayed in a temporary apartment and moved to ours. The second happened four years ago. And the third was now. Before that, in Brazil, I had already moved seven times. Let’s ..read more

You know that one of the things I always try to show here on the blog and on the channel is that there is a New York City for each type of traveler – and that New York City also goes beyond fast food (unless you want to) and you don’t have to spend a lot to eat well. Last year, I made a series of two videos on my Youtube channel showing 10 restaurant options for you to eat with up to $15. As the videos were an absolute success – and they are available only in Portuguese, I thought it was worth registering the list here as well. Remember that:
these options do not include appetizers or d ..read more

During these more than 6 years creating and sharing content about New York, I have always written many posts about shopping. The vast majority of stores that I recommend are very democratic – with options for women’s and men’s clothing. And I know that, in general, the tourist who travels here already has some stores in mind, such as department stores (Macy’s), discount stores (TJ Maxx and others) and fast fashion stores (H&M, Zara). All of these are good options for shopping. However, today I decided to do it differently. I decided to list some stores to buy men’s clothing that are not so ..read more

One of the main pillars of my content here on the blog and on my Youtube channel is to show people that New York City goes beyond the Empire State, Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. In fact, New York City goes beyond Manhattan. This city is always reviving itself, it is a different city every season, it has new things every month. It is no wonder that most travelers, after visiting the city for the first time, keep coming back here. As a content creator and passionate about the city, I love to discover, explore and share these spots outside the tourist area. If you live in New York City ..read more
