Ever since I can remember I’ve struggled with brushing Zay’s teeth. He’s just one of those kids who refuse to brush his teeth.  Eventually I tried the miswaak https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miswak – and although it worked well, he hated it.  This resulted in frustration for both of us, and the beginning of tooth decay (at just 2 years old). We also had (have) the pacifier to contend with.  We needed serious intervention. Dr Yasmin Kottait, Pediatric Dentist at My Pedia Clinic was our savior! After the initial consult, we were told that Zay’s teeth were decaying and we needed t ..read more

Where were you in 2001 when Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was released ? Oh the nostalgia is still with me from returning from the concert at the Du Forum, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi! If it wasn’t for my sister, a couple years younger than me, I would’ve probably never read the book and put it down as children’s fiction. I’m so glad I didn’t put it down as it’s anything but ‘children’s fiction’. When I heard that there was a movie being released, I off course thought that it cannot possibly be as good the book was – but it was!    J.K Rowling had everyone captivated into t ..read more

Inside blogging

While blogging is always something that I aspired to do when I worked in the PR/marketing industry, I only started my blog in 2013 as a ‘hobby’. However, I knew that it was something that I wanted to pursue because I had knowledge to share – was that not the aim of a blog? A journalistic-type narrative into your world. I’m the type of person that needs to research everything before I venture into it, especially if I am going to get paid for doing it. So I took a course in Facebook marketing and ‘How to start a blog in 48hrs’, which got me interested in the field. After seeing my sister Ro ..read more

Is it possible that adults can also face issues of cyber bullying? Yes most definitely they… we do. Unfortunately it is very rife with the digital age. Maybe it’s not the same as fighting on the playground, but exclusion, verbal abuse, even “death looks” amongst other abusive actions are real and can cause emotional and physical pain. “Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and website ..read more

Theres something about beautiful decor that just makes me feel calm.  Even though I am not as organised as I would like to be at home, I love walking into a place that is completely organised – and that’s precisely why I have an amazing helper thankfully. When she leaves my home, everything has its place – even my toddlers room is perfect again. When Zay was born, I struggled with selecting a crib, one that has been in the family for years or a new one that had a modern design and also acrylic so I could see my baby?  I chose the latter but if the family “heirloom” had been ..read more

I have always wanted to be a figure skater.  When I’m on the ice, everything disappears for that time – its me, my feet and the cold air against my skin. I love it. I started skating when I was 12, skated every week since then and joined classes 5 years later.  I’m not where I want to be and will definitely look into practising further. When the opportunity presented itself to attend a session at the Dubai Ice Rink with my fellow mummy/lifestyle bloggers and their tots (aged 1-4years old), I just had to and even though I hadn’t skated in 2 years due to pregnancy, I immediately found ..read more

Just in time for holiday shopping, a whimsical kids concept store has opened its doors in Dubai. Step into a magical place filled with the cutest accessories and little shoes (oh those shoes!) I attended the launch event which was filled with candy and popcorn, and all things charming to entertain the littles for hours while the mummy’s shop.   Upstairs, the designer transfers artwork (yes your kids drawings too!) onto sneakers – what an awesome concept. Imported brands, moroccan rugs and caravan cars will have you wanting it all. I opted for this cutesie Elodiedetails moustac ..read more

Located in Al Murooj Rotana (Dubai), Pergolas literally translates from Spanish into a “wooden frame in a garden for growing plants used for sitting or walking under”. Exactly what you would find when dining at the terrace overlooking the Al Murooj grand architecture. I was invited to sample the buffet menu and opted for the Friday (family) Brunch which allowed me to still spend the weekend with my better half and toddler. When I arrived I was faced with a busy crowd but soon realised that their was a family event taking place. This was the perfect setting to host a birthday or engagement part ..read more
