Is it stupid to bet against the market?

This is in reference to long term plays, let's not mention day trading or anything extremely short term. When I say the market, I mean the top etfs/indexes like SPY and NDX. My take is: The companies held in these tickers, at least the top ones, have proven steady growth. They may see an occasional drawdown, but they recover and then some. So unless we're looking at a national disaster whether it be 2008 or Covid, wouldn't it make sense to stay long? That's not to say it wouldn't be a good idea to hedge long positions. But I believe betting against the market without an obvious reason that ou ..read more

Why should I not do swing trading with TQQQ.

I am big fan of NASDAQ. I want to make the most out of ETFs that are growth focus like QQQ. I am currently invested in QQQM. Since it is not leveraged and cheaper than QQQ with lower expense ratio. But is a leveraged Index ETF something worth getting into or am I just taking unnecessary risk. It is 3x of the "Daily" Performance. I understand the amount of volatility is crazy as well as the expense ratio is wild but I am very tempted. I made a plan to just be invested in QQQM. and Play with less than 2.5% of my portfolio to put at risk with TQQQ when the price is a lot lower while comparing to ..read more

Hi! I am an ex-prop trader that trades equities. This is a daily watchlist for trading. I might trade all of the stocks on here, or none of them, on any given day. I might trade stocks that don't appear on here! I hold no positions in any stocks long-term but Amazon/Mag7/general broad market indices. (unless otherwise noted in these tickers). If you’re on old reddit, click “show images” at the top to see all the charts quickly. I usually make these watchlists premarket, (or from 6:30 to 7 as time permits), but can be delayed if I'm trading the open. These aren't mean to be taken as gospel ..read more

Lost it all leverage trading -200k, only 20k left (Age 24)

(-200k in a single month btw) Maybe AMA? More of a vent / discussion post since I can’t talk about it irl. I had a bunch of really successful leverage trades and got overconfident. +70k in one trade… +55k in one trade… etc… 200% -> 450% gains were very common. I was doing 60x leverage trades with 8-30k usd at a time. Very dumb but it worked really well multiple times. The more I earned the bigger risks I took. A single good trade could make it all back if I was ambitious enough. I would skip sleep for up to 3 or 4 days at a time just watching charts. I had a 80% success rate when well rest ..read more

Yep, title is right. I've tried to solve the issue below for a week now, and i will literally pay anyone who can just solve it for me. AFTER you have solved it, of course. I'm having trouble with my cTrader bot. The bot fails to initialize the FIX API with the error “Configuration failed: No sessions defined.” See Gyazo URL below: https://gyazo.com/301dd8d03176506bdb14ff3884b358ba I have checked the FIX44.xml file and corrected it many times with no change in results. I have doublechecked that the code of my bot matches the FIX API parameters. I have tried changing the bot's code. I have ask ..read more
