PGA Tour: Why the three majors should be extra exciting this year
The Punchbowl | Golf on the backspin

The PGA Tour is back in action and it’s great to see golf in front of our eyes again. Whether it’s watching it on TV or listening to the coverage on the radio, it’s just good to hear the sound of clubs thwacking and balls dropping into cups again. And with no crowds, the sounds are twice as pure as they’ve ever been (no offense to the crowds). But, with golf starting back up again, this means that we are being dealt with a weird schedule. With all three majors scheduled for late Summer and into the Fall, and with The Open Championship canceled, it’s going to be a wild season. On top of this, t ..read more

PGA Tour 2K21 is a new golf video game that is coming out, and it’s really exciting stuff if you’re a fan of golf and gaming. Justin Thomas graces the cover as the game’s first poster boy. The “2K21” implies that this will be a yearly release and that there will be a new cover star each time. If you’re new to video game golf, then you may learn that this new series was once “The Golf Club”. TGC enjoyed three installments from 2014 to 2019, with The Golf Club 2019 Featuring the PGA Tour being the last of them.  Since then, the series has merged its partnership with 2K to form what is now P ..read more

Tiger Woods stunned the entire world last year by winning The Masters for his fifth Green Jacket. It would also, of course, be his 15th major overall. And with no golf going, that means there’s no Masters this week and that’s tough for all of us who love the sport. There have been rumors floating around that it might be moved to the Fall. However, you would still have to hope that the Coronavirus will be behind us by then. Let’s hope it doesn’t stretch all the way out to the Fall. But, to help keep you happy during this time, I wanted to bring back something fun that will have you thinking abo ..read more

Black History Month: Joseph Barthalomew, a golf course design legend
The Punchbowl | Golf on the backspin

As Black History Month nears its end, it’s always awesome to celebrate the works of legends who came before us. One of those greats was Joseph Bartholomew, who was the first true African-American golf course designer in the country. As with many young men of color at the time, Bartholomew began his golf career as a caddie, looping for an all-white country club. He was passionate about caddying and the art of it despite being at a segregated club. This kind of passion would easily inspire those who aspire to be loopers. He’d eventually get the opportunity to work under Freddie McLeod who won th ..read more

Topgolf has blown up since the days that it only had four locations or so (including in Wooddale, IL, which was new when I first went there). Now, the popular driving range has expanded from four or so to 58 locations around the country and the world. Now, the hotspot will add an iconic golf destination to its list in Augusta, GA. It will be made official during Masters week in April, and the concept is sick. .@Topgolf will debut its new one-story venue concept in Augusta, GA, during #Masters week. 36 bays, mini golf, backyard games, live music stage, fire pits, and more:https://t.co/lulN0bv ..read more

Tiger Woods is as competitive as they come in sports, and his work ethic is off the charts. The same can be said about Kobe Bryant who was one of the true definitions of determination and hard work in sports. Bryant, the NBA icon died in a helicopter crash in California on Sunday when he, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others were flying to one of Gianna’s basketball games. Sadly, nobody else survived. Woods, who knew Bryant and is a Laker fan, spoke about the five-time NBA champion.   Tiger Woods reflects on the tragic passing of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. pic.twitter.com/t4F2Sqj57Z ..read more

Patrick Cantlay gave us the most hilarious golf moment of 2020 so far
The Punchbowl | Golf on the backspin

Patrick Cantlay was once a top amateur who sort of fell off the map when he turned pro but has since enjoyed a resurgence as being one of the best golfers in the world. The two-time PGA Tour champion also already gave us the funniest moment of the 2020 golf season, during a mic’d up session at the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua. Although it’s not completely clear on what Cantlay and his caddie were talking about, a solid mention of the F-word and a trip to the 19th hole came up. You may get a little kick out of this one to start your week. Golf Channel after dark, starring Patrick ..read more

Tiger Woods steered the ship as captain of Team USA in the Presidents Cup and he and his squad pulled off a comeback on day three and a portion of that on the final day to win their 11th title. As we know, the 15-time major champion was a playing captain and was a huge reason why the team won the tournament. He battled it out with Abraham Ancer in the Singles matches and won it rather comfortably. This, after the rising star from Mexico said that he wanted to take on Woods in a match. Well, on the final hole of that match, Woods pulled off his swaggiest move to date. He took his hat off right ..read more

Patrick Reed found himself in yet another controversy, but this time, involving his caddie at the President’s Cup. Kessler Karain, who is also the 2018 Masters champion’s brother-in-law got into an altercation with a fan at Royal Melbourne following the US team’s sloppy start. Supposedly, the fan said some nasty things about Reed. That’s when Karain gave the fan a shove before more words were exchanged. “Riding on the cart, guy was about 3 feet from Patrick and said, ‘You (expletive) suck,” Karain said according to Barstool Sports. “I got off the cart and shoved him, said a couple of things, p ..read more
