Face Wash

I am a college student who became interested in zerowaste about a month ago. I have a long way to go, but I’ve started by implementing recycling. I’ve almost gone through my entire face soap, but I noticed the package is not recyclable… even though it boasts it’s 83% reduction of plastic. What is a better alternative that is easy on skin? submitted by /u/ancestry_researcher [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is it possible to be zero waste and holistic?

I have been working towards being holistic just for my own health but the problem is that my products are not earth friendly. Someone I know suggested a really good toothpaste that she uses and doesn’t have a problem at the dentist with like she’s never had cavities. It’s in a plastic bottle… Any tips? submitted by /u/Visible_Seesaw_6308 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What to do with old fitted sheets?
Reddit | Zero Waste

Recently moved in with my partner and the mattress we have is kingsize. Since none of our old fitted sheets will fit I'm trying to think of some other use for them than just holding onto them just in case. Some of these are possibly older than me so wondering what to do other than donate to some organisation that claims to recycle the fabric since I doubt anyone else would want them. Any ideas for repurposing? So far I'm using one as a mat for when I need to repot plants. submitted by /u/fonduebitch [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Beeswax wraps

The beeswax wraps I first bought a couple years ago are all going strong except the small one I used to wrap thousands of half onions. I think I just wore out the wax. Two questions: I have heard that they should last about a year. Is that true? I’m pretty DIY, but I doubt that I will rewax it. How do I dispose of it? Can I compost it? submitted by /u/Different_Call_1871 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Alternative to Weird Floss Soft-Pick Things
Reddit | Zero Waste

I would like to find something similar to these soft-pick things that are more sustainable. Before yall mention things like compostable floss or otherwise, I cant use those in my particular situation. My orthodontist put my permanent retainers really close to my gumline, and there is literally no other way to floss in between on those teeth. I've tried using a water pik, but due to the closeness of the retainers, the water pressure inflames my gums and makes it worse, to the point where I can't get food out at all. Have you guys found/know of a good alternative to these? submitted by /u ..read more

What can be done with beef renderings

Marked NSFW because some people may not want to see this image in their feed. This is leftover beef rendering after making tacos last night. They were delicious, but now I’m cleaning the cast iron pan and there’s always quite a bit of rendered fat left. Makes me wonder what I can do with rendered oils post-cooking instead of discarding it. This has seasoning in it. But often times it’s just lard and oils the next day. Can it be useful in the garden? Reused? Anywhere else? submitted by /u/kalitarios [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Claims to be zero waste but no way to verify

I had to buy this for a wrist injury. It was in this card stock package with no plastic and it's made in Hawaii. The package says zero waste but there is no way to verify this. I wish companies would provide information to back up their claims. Technically, it's not zero waste since it came in a package with paper strips on the straps. submitted by /u/pandabear62573 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
