One Room Three Looks

We were pretty excited to be asked if we would be interested in doing a photo shoot with On the Bay magazine, with the theme being one room being shown several different ways. The idea behind the article was to be able to show people how they can create a new look with their space by just changing out some of the pieces to give it an entirely new look. With most of us spending a lot more time at home due to the pandemic it can get pretty tiresome looking at the same four walls. Without breaking the bank or replacing the larger more expensive pieces, we worked with what the homeowner already h ..read more

The Art of Styling Your Coffee Table
Suze Interiors & Home Staging

Styling your coffee table doesn’t have to be complicated, it should be fun! There are a few things to keep in mind like always use varying heights of your objects and working with odd numbers is also a good trick to remember. In the featured image above, the table alone makes a statement so what we added was just a bonus. We threw in some green, topped a stack of books with a modern metal piece and threw in a bit of whimsy with the bird. We didn’t fuss too much about mixing the gold and silver, after all, aren’t rules meant to be broken? If you have any pieces that are sentimental, don’t be a ..read more

This Old Church

Nothing beats a good challenge to keep us on our toes. We were contacted by a local realtor who wanted to see if we would be interested in looking at a listing he had coming up, which he felt there may not be much we could do with. Never say that to an Aries, as that is just the thing to pique our interest and we love a good challenge. (and hate to fail lol) The listing happened to be an old church in the beautiful little community of Lavender, quite a hot spot for those wishing to find peace and tranquility from the fast pace of the city. We walked into the space and to be honest, I felt a ..read more

Do you have an old dresser kicking around the garage or attic? Do you need a dresser but the budget doesn’t really allow for shopping for new furniture? Why not join the popular trend of repurposing something old and treasured. With people spending more time at home and with the uncertainty of the future, many people aren’t spending like they used to. I myself am giving much more thought to each and every purchase I make and asking myself “do you really need to spend money on this?” I witness and work with baby boomers on a regular basis that are moving and downsizing and purging their big be ..read more

The Importance of Curb Appeal
Suze Interiors & Home Staging

A local real estate agent asked me to consult with her clients on choosing a new paint colour for the exterior of their home in preparation to sell the property. When I arrived at the house my first thought was that the blue was rather adorable and that painting it something more neutral was perhaps not needed to update the home. What I was more concerned with was the curb appeal “or lack there of”. What I did recommend that would prove to be a more wise investment of time, energy and $$ would be on landscaping, the front porch, adding fresh gravel to the driveway, painting the front door a ni ..read more

Total Transformation

Who doesn’t love a good transformation? Sometimes I forget that not everyone has the ability to envision what a space “could” look like and the endless possibilities. I worked with clients recently that had a great vision for how this dated home could look and I was excited to help them with the process. They did a lot of the work themselves and brought me in to make some key important decisions that really needed to be done right the first time. The guidance I gave them was deciding on how big the island in the kitchen should be and the positioning of it, the kitchen cabinet colour, the back ..read more

In my experience of helping clients for over 14 yrs., the biggest obstacle for most is that they are not able to envision how their space “could” look. Whether it’s buying a new home or decorating a home you currently live in, visuals are extremely important so you can see how it could be. We helped a client stage their home for sale and when it received a whopping $25,000 over the asking prices they were thrilled. When they moved into their new weekend home, they realized that they needed some help with an empty living room. Having gotten to know them a little, I quickly realized that ..read more

I was thrilled to be informed yesterday that Suze Interiors had received the 2018 Houzz award for “Service”. It’s one thing to do a good job for your clients, but the most important thing for me is giving great customer service while you’re doing it, which I feel really is the key to any successful business, combined with loving what you do of course. Having gone to school for Hotel Management in my previous life & working in the hospitality industry for over 25 yrs., I really did learn the art of good customer service. I was taught at one of the hotels that I worked for to do whatever it ..read more

What is the Intended Use of Each Room?

One of the most important things to remember when you are getting your home ready to sell, is to make sure that the rooms show what they are intended to be used for. If you are using the dining room as a make shift office, turn it back into a dining room and add a chandelier. If you only have 2 bedrooms and you are using one as an office, turn it back into a bedroom. You get the idea. But why can’t buyers just imagine what it could look like? I get asked this question a lot, and the simple answer is that the majority of people can’t imagine or envision what a room could/should look like, that ..read more
