The PYGA Euro Steel 2 team, Michael Foster and Jaedon Terlouw, took another win on Stage 2 of the KAP sani2c (03:26:21), with just 40 seconds to spare against the Insect Science team of Arno du Toit and Keagan Bontekoning. Sam Sanders and Danielle Strydom (Efficient Infiniti Insure) held onto the leader’s jersey in the women’s race, finishing in 04:10:05, taking 4th place overall for the stage. The PYGA Euro Steel 2 team, Michael Foster and Jaedon Terlouw, made it two of two on Thursday when they won Stage 1 of the 2024 KAP Sani2c in 03:01:48. Sam Sanders and Danielle Strydom (Efficient Infiniti Insure) dominated the women’s race, finishing in 03:36:50, taking 6th place overall for the stage. The Lions Karoo to Coast will be a Cycling South Africa sanctioned event for the first time in nearly a decade when it takes place on Sunday, 22 September 2024. This will allow riders with racing licences to take part again and ensures that the local development riders are able to compete, on home turf, against the best cyclists in the country. The KAP sani2c Race kicks off on Wednesday 24 April, where, for the first time in the 20-year history of the event, there will be a Prologue for the UCI registered riders. KAP sani2c is now a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Category 2 marathon stage race and points are allocated per rider – which means that each rider from the first team across the line will be awarded 80 points to their UCI ranking. Tyronne White showed his protégés how it is done as the veteran cycling coach led home a phalanx of team members in the aQuellé Tour Durban MTB powered by Cycle Lab on Saturday. The 2024 UCI XCO World Cup kicked off in Brazil last weekend with some thrilling racing! The Men’s XCO race in particular was an absolute cracker, with 13 riders starting the last lap at the front of the race. Final-lap attacks by those who still could, created some splits, with Specialized Factory Racing’s Christopher Blevins claiming the victory.
