Yup! You read that right! Wake that Baby up, Mama! I know this seems absolutely ridiculous to some mamas, however, there’s a good reason why waking your baby is so important! Babies are often sleepy during the 1st week or so, and this is totally common and normal. However, this may lead to your baby not eating often enough. It’s very important that a newborn eats at least 8 times or more within a 24 hr period. Eating this often helps to ensure that your baby is getting what it needs, along with encouraging milk supply. Here are some suggestions for waking your baby: Stimulating all your baby ..read more

Let's talk about WEANING!! The weaning process can be an easy transition for some and dreadful for others. For me, it was rough. I wasn’t excited about the thought of weaning at all. We had been breastfeeding for over 2 years, and it was our norm. We had fully adjusted to the lifestyle, and now I was supposed to just stop, and wean her?! I wasn’t happy about this new step in our journey, but I knew it needed to happen… and for both of us. When I decided to introduce the weaning process, my daughter had just turned 26 months old, had a mouth full of teeth, and was eating just about everything ..read more

Did you know that throughout your breastfeeding journey your breast may become engorged for different reasons? Let's talk about the types of engorgement a woman can experience after giving birth.   Vascular Engorgement: This type of engorgement happens once the placenta is delivered which in return signals the body to increase in prolactin and a decrease in estrogen and progesterone. Because of this process, the breasts are prepared for making your milk. This is what causes an increase in blood and lymph to the breast area which results in the fullness in t ..read more

I don't know about you, but for me, I was so nervous to feel that first BITE while breastfeeding. I had heard horror stories and it made me so nervous. Like myself, moms sometimes worry about breastfeeding when their baby has teeth. As for me comfort nursing has become a regular thing for us. Call me silly but I've always liked the thought of being able to soothe my baby by breastfeeding. It makes me feel needed and it comforts me in a way too. Over the past few months I have come to the realization that these innocent moments between mother and daughter have caused many many sleepless nights. Once my LO notices there is no boob in her mouth she wakes up screaming, with her e ..read more
