Earlier this week we wrapped up our 2023 season with back-to-back trips in Crested Butte, Colorado.  These two trips were very different in terms of weather, conditions, and fall colors; while the first trip had cooler and rainy weather, perfect trail conditions and minimal fall colors, the second trip experienced warm/sunny weather, drier trail conditions, and incredible fall colors.  Which would you rather have? As per usual, we brought along a camera on each ride to document the trip in photos for both our clients and you.  Check out our ride itineraries and photos below (we ..read more

Yep that’s right: a week-long trip with Chasing Epic.  But this isn’t just any week-long trip… this is six days of riding some of the best downhills in the US consecutively, in an enduro-focused trip that will push you to the limit and have you begging for more.  Over the course of a week, we’re putting together three days in Salida (based on our Monarch Crest Enduro trip) and three days in Crested Butte that are not for the faint of heart.  This trip is rated advanced level fitness and advanced level tech, and will likely end up being the hardest trip we operate.     ..read more

Last week we wrapped up back-to-back Monarch Crest Enduro trips (one scheduled, one private) and we couldn’t have asked for much more: perfect weather, great trail conditions, and two amazing groups of riders.  Although we did manage to work our way through a ton of sunscreen- the sun is super intense above 10,000 feet! – we absolutely delivered on the promise of being one of our tougher trips, and it was awesome watching the riders step up to the challenge. From the first day on Starvation Creek to the last day on Methodist Mountain, each day brings something new with regards to challeng ..read more

An Interesting Take on Altitude
Chasing Epic | Mountain Bike Adventures

It’s probably the number one question we get from our clients before trips:  how long beforehand should I arrive to get used to the altitude?  We’ve always known that realistically, you’re not going to acclimate for our high-altitude trips (Crested Butte, Durango, Monarch Crest or Sun Valley) with only a few days of preparation, as these rides take place between 6,000 and 12,500′.  Scientifically, it’s pretty well-documented that your body takes a minimum of two weeks- and in most cases more- to acclimate and produce more red blood cells to make up for the lack of oxygen in the ..read more

Earlier this week we wrapped up our first official summer-time trip to Durango, Colorado – we had launched the trip last fall with the crew from Worldwide Cyclery, but our ultimate goal was to turn Durango into a summer trip.  The wildflowers are blooming, waterfalls are flowing, and the trails are in perfect condition.  Well, that’s what we though… during a typical spring/summer season in the high country around Durango, the trails up high are normally good to go by mid to late June.  This year – very different story!  Up until a few days before the trip, we were scramblin ..read more

Photo Essay: Crazy Flow and Wildflowers in Sun Valley

Last week we wrapped up another 5-day trip to Sun Valley, Idaho… in typical spring (or is it summer already) fashion, we had cooler temps, some rain, and absolutely incredible trails.  Over the course of the four days of riding, our crew knocked out almost 100 miles spread out between five different trail systems!  Despite a couple changes to the original itinerary- thanks to a washed-out road and endless avalanche debris- we still got the group on some of the best trails in the area, and it was a perfect match for our riders. Just like after every trip, we’ve put together some of ou ..read more
