Hey good people, I graduated with a masters in health economics in 2020 but didn't get into the field afterwards. Now, I am struggling to find employers who will/are willing to employ graduates with little to no experience. My question is how can I make myself more employable for lets say market access, junior analyst etc jobs? Cheers! submitted by /u/GrouchyEnd [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m a UK doctor considering moving into a related field outside of clinical medicine. I did a health economics module as part of my intercalated degree and loved it. Would anyone be able to give advice for doctors transitioning to a career in health economics? 1) Are there many former (or current) doctors in HE? What pathways did these doctors take to get into HE? Is there scope for part time HE alongside part time clinical work? 2) Which UK masters, if any, would people recommend? 3) What is the scope to go into HealthTech with an HE masters? 4) What is salary progression like eg compared to ..read more

Hi, I’m hoping for some advice or reflections from this community, thanking you in advance! I’m based in the UK and I have a masters in health economics. I quickly went down the public sector route as more of a generalist economist with a health economics background. I’ve carried out cost benefit analysis and cost effectiveness analysis but the more technical modelling components e.g. the modelling that determines likely utility changes was always carried out by academics. I left the public sector for a consulting opportunity as the turbulent government meant there wasn’t actually the opportu ..read more

Hi all! I am about 3 months away from graduating from UNC Chapel Hill with a BS in Economics and a BA in Medical Anthropology. For general reference I have a fairly high GPA and I have done a couple of undergrad research positions in the social sciences, but none specifically in Econ. This year I was admitted into the Honors thesis program (which accepts about 15 students out of the approximately 300-person major) and have been conducting my own research in applied micro. For the first few years of undergrad, I had my sights set on moving into Public Health for a Master's degree and was gener ..read more

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics in December 2023. Took a while, but I found a position at a very large health firm in the Northeast. My job title is "Business Assistant" for a department related to staffing and some data. If I were to stick with this firm and go back to college for a masters in health economics, would it be possible to move up internally to something that relates to health econ? submitted by /u/No-Cut-3517 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! I am public health practitioner that is eager to learn new things that could be applied in my day-job. I am looking for some good reading about things like optimizing waiting-line or prioritizing patients. I have read “Making hard decisions” by Clemens so I have some understanding of decision-analysis but not how it is applied in healthcare. Thanks for any suggestions! submitted by /u/RagnarDa [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
