Well, it’s official. I’ve completed my taxes and I owe the Government $6000. $6019 to be exact. Because of that, I haven’t filed my taxes just yet. To make matters worse, I don’t have $6000 lying around. Truthfully, it could have been worse. But, this is the last straw to drop so to speak. I knew this year was going to be rough. I knew my taxes were going to be high. I’m just glad that I know the amount and I am working diligently to come up with the funds to pay my taxes next month. So, let’s take a look at why my taxes are so high and how I plan on paying for it. Why Are My Taxes So High? I ..read more

Vacation Rental Report – Emerald’s Corner – February 2024

Welcome to the second vacation rental report for the year for Emerald’s Corner. Honestly, I am not looking forward to writing this report. For starters, February is still the slow season. Moreover, because of how I do my accounting, I expect to earn zero income for February, despite the fact that I rented to snowbirds the entire month. Additionally, my expenses for this unit are super high. So, I am not looking forward to seeing what the year-to-date loss is going to be. But, we have to get through this. The busy season starts in March and really picks up in April and May. So, I’ll be excited ..read more

Welcome to the second vacation rental report of the year on Calypso Memories. What’s interesting is that I am actually staying at my own condo while I’m writing this post. One of the benefits of a vacation rental is that I get to use it myself whenever I want. Currently, I’m here with my mom. So, we get to spend some quality time together outside of our house. But that’s not why you’re here. February is still considered the slow season. I am very excited to see how March does but of course, I can’t put the cart before the horse. My goal for this year is to keep my expenses to a minimum. Time ..read more

Just like that, the first month of the New Year is gone. In any given month, there’s a lot that goes on in life. But, regardless of the ups and downs, I can count on my dividends working for me in the background. In fact, my investments are so automatic, that I barely even think about them until it’s time to post my dividend income report. Talk about set it and forget it. I set my automatic investment amount. Then, every single month, a portion of my income gets invested into my dividend portfolio. A long and consistent approach is the name of the game when it comes to dividend growth investi ..read more

Vacation Rental Report – Emerald’s Corner – January 2024

Welcome to my first vacation rental report for Emerald’s Corner for 2024. This condo reported a massive loss in 2023 and I am really hoping for a better year in 2024. When I purchased the condo, I knew going in the condo wasn’t going to be able to support itself. Specifically, I knew that I had to contribute funds from my personal account to ensure that I meet all the expenses. Honestly, I fully anticipate that 2024 will be another year of me reporting a loss for the condo. In fact, I expect that to be the case until interest rates are low enough that allows me to refinance the property. That ..read more

Welcome to the first vacation rental report for Calypso Memories for 2024. 2023 ended with a resounding loss for the year and so I’m excited to get it over with. I’m more optimistic for 2024. Specifically, there’s a chance I might end the year with a profit. Or, at the very least, I’ll likely end the year with less of a loss than that I did in 2023. My goal for this year is to keep my expenses to a minimum. So, time will tell. But, for now, let’s see whether I made a profit or loss for my vacation rental in January 2024. Welcome to the first dividend income report for 2024. I’m excited for the new year and really hope 2024 is much better than 2023. With a new year comes resolutions and new motivations to fulfill your goals. Dividend Growth Investing is a long slow process. But, if one can stick with it for the long term, it would be well worth it. It’s one way to experience compounding growth! Sure, things are slow at first, but they become incredibly larger at the end of the snowball. So, without further adieu, let’s see how much dividends I earned in January 2024. Debt Payoff Report – December 2023

This is the last report for December 2023 I will post. It is time for the debt payoff report. Over the next 5 months, things are going to be tough. I have limited income coming in as I have no job. Also, my expenses remain high. However, each month, I consistently pay down on my debt. My credit card bill, however, remains high. Unfortunately, I’m not really able to make a dent into my credit card. So, the balance stays right around $20,000. Still, I am laser focused on paying that down and I suspect that beginning about April or so, I will be making substantial progress to getting rid of my c ..read more

Recently, I posted a dismal vacation rental report on Calypso Memories. I don’t expect this report to be any better. In fact, I think it’s’ going to be worse. 2023 was a very tough year for both condos. I lost a massive amount of money in each and so I am glad the year is over. I am definitely looking forward to 2024. During 2024, a number of the expenses I incurred last year will be eliminated. For example, I had to get a new HVAC system (about $9000 cost) and I will be finished paying for that in 2024. Additionally, I plan on keeping my expenses to a minimum this year, and if so, I might ev ..read more

Happy New Year everyone. It’s finally time to post the vacation rental report for Calypso Memories for December 2023. This is the final report of the year. I am so thankful that 2023 is over. I had a substantial loss on this unit and even on my second beachfront condo. In looking ahead, I expect the next 3 months to operate at a loss and hopeful things will start picking up in April. In fact, I already have one booking for May, which is just $400 shy of paying the mortgage for that month. So, there are reasons to be hopeful. That being said the key question for 2024 will be whether the Airbnb ..read more
