LOVE-ing SundayFunday!

I'm pretty sure my kids think that 'SundayFunday' is the actual name of the day that comes after Saturday...and at this stage in their lives I'm totally ok with that! Sundays with these active, outdoor-loving boys can be challenging in these super hot summer months so we are constantly trying to find new indoor activities that can occupy their attention for long periods of time. This past Sunday we headed down to Young at Art in Davie with some friends and we all had a blast! Definitely check this place out if you live in or are visiting South Florida! {Cutest little photobomber!} {Dress: Ma ..read more

{image via kateyoungdesign.com} It's fiiiiiiinally happening! I'm moving this little blog over from blogger to my own website! I have been talking about doing this for about two years but life/work/general lack of know-how (leading to lack of motivation) has always managed to get in the way. Well not any longer, my friends! In a surprising technological feat, I've managed to design my own website...which is huuuuge for me because sometimes I feel like a senior citizen when it comes to technology. {ironically, I'm sure there are plenty of actual senior citizens that know significantly more abo ..read more

I want to start off this post, the first one of this new year, by saying 'Thank You!' to my amazing readers! I don't post as much as I want to these days (something I'm going to try really hard to work on this year) but when I do, y'all just warm my heart with your comments, questions and support. And the most exciting thing for me is when you send me pics of your own DIY projects inspired by something you saw here. So, how about in this upcoming year we both keep 'em coming! Deal? Deal! This post was supposed to go up 3 weeks ago but then Blogger decided to randomly delete days worth of work ..read more

DIY: French Provincial Dresser

It is no exaggeration to say that I had been searching for the perfect dresser for our bedroom for two years! I knew I wanted a 'French Provincial' style dresser but I had a lot of specific parameters that the dresser had to meet. As usual, I wasn't sure if the picture in my mind existed in real life. {I was basically searching for the unicorn of dressers...story of my life.} I passed up dresser after dresser. Dozens...and dozens...it was laughable. {Were we doomed to a lifetime of ikea?! there was no end in sight!} Not enough drawers? no, thanks. Rough condition? see ya. boring bones? keep it ..read more

DIY: Pottery Barn Lookalike Nightstand Lamps

It's no secret that I looooove Pottery Barn! The classic styles, always with a little twist; the prints and patterns, both subtle and bold; and the colors, oh how I love the colors, from timeless neutrals to bold trends, PB never disappoints. That being said, PB doesn't often fall into my budget for small decor items that I don't want to "invest" in. I have gotten some amazing sale finds - usually by stalking items for months until they finally get marked down. Like this light fixture: From the moment I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for our entryway but it was waaaay out of budget for a ..read more

DIY: Painted armoire for neutral nursery

This piece (and post) is pretty special for me as it's the first piece of furniture I've refinished for someone else's home! Our sweet friends, N and S, recently became parents to the most adorable baby girl and when they asked me to refinish a gorgeous (but dated!) armoire, I jumped at the chance to create something totally unique for them! N told me that the armoire belonged to his grandfather and I definitely understood the sentimental value of giving it another life (having just reupholstered my grandfather's bedroom bench). The piece was beautiful; sturdy and solid...but totally wrong for ..read more
