“Nothing is Permanent”

Though I LOVE spaces, I am not quite a visual learner. I’m more kinesthetic – I need to touch things, move them around, experience them before making a decision. Often times I don’t even measure when I’m trying to figure out a room lay out – I just try to push the furniture into the space where I want it and if it fits, it fits, if I doesn’t, I try plan b. (I realize that this isn’t really the most logical way to do things…) When I am organizing with clients, I find myself saying over and over “Nothing is permanent! We’ll try it, and if it doesn’t work out, we will try something else!” Th ..read more

Time Domination Thoughts and Actions

I’m blogging this week. Do you know why? Because I was lucky enough to go to a workshop on time domination (not time management – because time shouldn’t be managed, it should be dominationed!) and I am now on a roll to get shit done. The workshop was put on by Keita of Success Bully (though the event is over, but the details should be archived here) and I had a great time. Time management (domination) has recently become something that I struggle with. I have had clients ask for advice on it and I absolutely cannot give it because I SUCK at it. Organize spaces? Yes! Organize schedules? Yes! Ca ..read more

Organizing Project: Storage Wars

I have been at war with my storage unit for years. Yes, it may sound dramatic, but it was TRUE. My storage unit was a damn war zone. I live in a small condo and am so lucky to have an on-site storage unit on a different floor. However, when you have a small condo AND a convenient place to put excess stuff…ALL your excess stuff goes to that place – whether you need it or not! I have been dumping things there for years, and while I had organized it several times, it still wasn’t functional. In fact, several times I had considered hiring a colleague of mine to help me get it done!   ..read more

I love a good transition. There is nothing in life that kicks my ass into gear more than a major change. Waiting for that change to occur, on the other hand – that’s a challenge for me. I get impatient and want the transition to be OVER. I’m ready to be onto the next thing, to bask in the newness of the preparation I made in the midst of the transition. Planning for the future has always been my strength. Has anyone ever taken the StrengthFinder test? Basically, you take a long personality survey, and it tells you what your strengths are based on that. It then tells you the types of jobs that ..read more

Organizing An Effective Medication Routine

My health has been my biggest source of joy and my biggest challenge the past couple of years. In 2015, after a LONG struggle with fatigue, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, which I consider to be a huge blessing. Finally, I knew what was causing my constant tiredness – and not only that, I had a clear solution for it – CPAP (continuous positive airway presure) therapy! Initially, I felt GREAT after starting CPAP. I was lighter, happier, and more awake. But that didn’t last long. After a couple of months, I started to feel the affects of what happens to your body when you don’t sleep or breath ..read more

Keeping Craft Supplies from becoming Clutter

Today brings a guest post from the wonderful Jeriann Watkins of dairyairhead.com. Often, people who struggle with organization are very artsy and creative. I thought this was great stuff for those of you who enjoy arts and crafts, but need a little structure. – Stacy In the past year, I have turned my habit of collecting craft materials into a small market booth where I actually make the things I plan on making and then sell them. It’s been a blast, but it’s led to a large influx in the amount of craft supplies I’ve accumulated. As such, I’ve had to implement a lot of diffe ..read more

Extend Your Wardrobe With a Dress Extender

When a representative at Perfectly Priscilla contacted me to see if I wanted to try out one of their pieces for a review, I jumped on it. I’m a big fan of any kind of clothes, so right away I settled on this dress extender – something I have always wanted, but didn’t know existed!     This dress extender is supposed to add length to a short dress. If you’ve ever shopped at Forever 21, you know exactly what I’m talking about – I think part of the reason that their stuff is so cheap is because they only sell you half of the fabric on a dress! The item itself seems to be high qual ..read more

Make-Up for the Low Maintenance Girl – Raul E. NY Foundation Review

I’ve never been a make-up girl. You see, I love fashion. I love dressing up and trying to pull off a vintage vibe and kicking it in my polka dot skirts. But makeup has never been my strong point. There are a couple of reasons for this: I’m just not good at putting on makeup. It takes a steady hand and an artistic eye that I just don’t have. I sleep late. As a long-term battle with chronic fatigue (that was actually undiagnosed sleep apnea), I needed every spare second that I could get in bed to get those extra minutes of sleep. Taking extra time for makeup wasn’t my cup of tea. Howev ..read more
