After a couple of false starts spanning several years, Arizona is finally simplifying it’s transaction privilege tax (TPT) system. In Arizona, TPT is the equivalent of sales tax in most other states.
The state hasn’t released much hard news yet, but this post will go over what we know for now.
What do these Arizona tax changes mean for online sellers? Changes to TPT reporting
According to a press release from the Arizona Department of Revenue, sellers will now be required to use “location-based” reporting when submitting TPT returns to ensure accurate distribu ..read more

Last year we wrote about how – gloriously – Arizona announced they were simplifying sales tax registration and compliance in the state. Then we wrote about how – just kidding – Arizona was putting off that welcome change until 2016. (Note: while we’re calling it “sales tax” here for simplicity’s sake, Arizona actually calls their version of sales tax “transaction privilege tax” or TPT.)

Here’s the lowdown:

Avondale
Chandler

Flagstaff
Glendale

Earlier this year we wrote about the simplification of Arizona sales tax. (Note: Arizona calls their version of sales tax “transaction privilege tax.”) The changes would have made it simpler to register for a sales tax license in Arizona and simplify sales tax filing in the Grand Canyon State.
We say “would have,” though, because these simplifications have hit a snag.
According to a recent notice published by the Arizona Department of Revenue, “Due to the complexity in incorporating the City’s requirements into the Department’s information technology system, ADOR will not be the single point ..read more

Starting in 2021, the state of Arizona has made a few changes to how they handle Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT – Arizona’s version of sales tax). More taxpayers than ever are required to file electronically, and Arizona taxpayers can now claim even higher sales tax discounts for filing electronically and on time.

But as usual, nothing is black and white when it comes to eCommerce sales tax.
This post will explain what online sellers need to know about the Arizona marketplace facilitator law, and answer your frequently asked questions.
