Putting new commissions on HOLD. I started Steven Hitchcock bespoke in 1999, with the ambition of making the very best bespoke suits in cut, fit, craftsmanship and service. For a long time now I have limited my commissions each year to a number I can happily cut and fit myself. My bespoke suits are all made by my personal selection of a handful of trusted Savile Row artisans. This, warrants all Steven Hitchcock bespoke suits to a level of high quality consistency. Which, I believe is crucial to the success of my tailoring house.     Unprecedented interest. After the Covid 19 pandemi ..read more

Bespoke tailoring by Steven Hitchcock. Good news! we have re-opened after a year of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. We are happy to be making our Savile row bespoke suits again. Soft tailoring lives! Opening the shop. Naturally we were excited to open the shop on the 12th April 2021. The day before we entered the shop to clean and tidy. refresh our cloth bunches and to get the work room in order. Making sure the pressing iron, sewing machine and the all important coffee maker still work! Happy to be back bespoke tailoring. We have missed the buzz of the workroom and seeing our clients. We have ..read more

Good news!… Steven Hitchcock Bespoke, has moved from Savile Row to 58 Chiltern Street. Chiltern Street. I am pleased to announce that I have taken the chance to acquire a chic little shop in the beautiful London village of Marylebone. We have an attractive spot on the independent retailer lined, Chiltern Street. The new shop is flanked by charming, exclusive and independent shops, just like how I remember Savile Row used to be when I was an apprentice. Since starting Steven Hitchcock Bespoke in 1999, I have always shared a shop with more than two other bespoke tailors. This was due to keeping ..read more

HRH the Prince of Wales birthday is 14th November 1948. To commemorate HRH 70th birthday he commissioned a single breasted Vicuna overcoat from Steven Hitchcock bespoke. In 2001 HRH commissioned a double breasted Vicuna overcoat from Steven, and has worn it on several public and private occasions throughout the years. This year is the 70th birthday celebration year. There is certainly no better way than to celebrate with a new single breasted Vicuna overcoat!?! What is Vicuna? Firstly, Vicuna is a very rare and luxurious cloth. It is extremely soft. Surprisingly, it is light and above all exce ..read more

‘Savile Row travels to Paris! Ooh er!’  (Is the English translation for this blog post.) The French have cried out, asking for soft tailoring  from Savile Row to be brought to France. So, we have responded! Does soft tailoring in exchange for buttery pastries, heady perfumes, romantic architecture and wine galore sound like a fair exchange? It does to us! Sartorial Trips contacted us to explain that there has been requests that Steven Hitchcock should come to Paris and tend to the bespoke tailoring needs that Parisians demand! So, we are cooling our passports down from our recent USA ..read more

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with the new Rake Online Editor Ben St George. On behalf of all Savile Row Tailors, I wish Ben every success in his new role and look forward to reading his future articles. Firstly, Ben was very interested to learn about the history of the drape cut, soft tailoring and the style that it creates. Heres a snippet from his article on soft tailoring, “British drape’s creation is usually credited to Mr. Frederick Scholte. Scholte, a Dutchman working out of Savile Row, designed the style for Edward VIII, then the Prince of Wales. The style’s fundamental feat ..read more

I was interviewed a couple of weeks a go by Winston Chesterfield from the new online magazine, MAN LONDON. It was clear to me that Mr Chesterfield is a lover of clothes and The Savile Row Tailor style! I found his questions interesting and felt quite at ease with him understanding my way of tailoring and how I like to make a bespoke suit. Here’s a little extract from the article; THE GOLDEN RULE IS KNOW YOUR CUTTER “The basic rule is, if you don’t know your cutter and you can’t see the workshop where it’s being handmade, then it’s not a Savile Row suit. It all comes down to the cutter an ..read more
