Well, hello dear readers! Happy almost Spring! So, in India, where my family is from, we celebrate the start of spring by throwing crazy colored powder at each other! Intrigued? Read on… Here are some things you might not know about the spectacular Hindu festival of Holi: Holi celebrates the triumph of good over evil. The main celebration involves tossing gulal (or colored powder) into the air (and at each other) to completely coat yourself and your friends in spectacular form. The serious purpose behind it all is to celebrate fertility, love and the end of winter (or beginning of Spring). It ..read more

The Real Deal About Working in a Small Office
Not Another Millennial Blog
by Michelle Ioannou

I have worked in small offices for all of my professional years — from when I started interning as a college junior up until now. I personally prefer the smaller environment, but I can assure you, it’s not for everyone. Whereas there are many pros, there are also many cons. Yes, you will find good and bad in any working environment, but obviously these differences vary. You get your feet wet in different fields.  Yes, I work and specialize in communications, but in a small office, it’s all hands on deck. If someone in another department needs help, you bet I’m there working on it. I pers ..read more

There aren’t too many aspects of dating that don’t have their difficult points. Between first dates, figuring out the perfect profile for your dating app, longing for the dating world of another time and not giving in the pressure to date when you’re single…podcasts lend a sympathetic voice from those who have been there. Dating within the LGBT community — as a millennial, living in our own dating world that we’ve created — has its own set of trials and tribulations. Here are some of our favorite podcasts that understand the struggle.     The Heart  According to one of its pro ..read more

La La Land: A Musical for Millennials
Not Another Millennial Blog
by Kerrin Frappier

It may not have won Best Picture (in a now infamous mix-up at this year’s Oscars) but La La Land proved that musicals continue to be a much-enjoyed genre for cinema-goers everywhere — even (and perhaps especially) millennials. I love musicals — as any former dance kid should. There’s something empowering about characters expressing through a little (or a lot) song and dance. If you’re anything like me and my group of friends, these songs about love, loss and the quest for equality and justice are the ones that stick with you. When I saw the trailer for La La Land I couldn’t help but feel intr ..read more

Cut, Cut: President Trump Wants to Stop Federal Funding for the Arts
Not Another Millennial Blog

As I’ve said before…I’ve tried to remain unbiased. I’ve even tried to give President Trump the respect of the office of the Presidency. I’ve thought about “giving him a chance.” And don’t get me wrong…if he proves me wrong in my low expectations of his ability to lead us, I’ll give credit where credit is due. But as I felt when President Trump instituted his first controversial Muslim Ban, I cannot just sit by and pretend to be “okay” with the fact that President Trump is proposing to end federal funding for arts –- specifically public broadcasting, which includes the Corporation for Public B ..read more

Be it Disney, Star Wars, horror/Halloween or Harry Potter, themed parties are a great way to break the ice with new friends and celebrate with old, be it young or old. Here are a few ideas on how to get a themed movie night or party going. Pick a themeSo, this is the fun part. There are so many different ways you can throw a movie night, and it all has to do with what you love! I have thrown a bunch of different themed movie nights including horror-themed and Disney Princess-themed. Both of these were so much fun to plan and host because I love both of those genres, and it was a blast to expl ..read more

I Attended The Fest For Beatles Fans, and Here’s Why You Should Too

Thanks to our Editorial Advisor, Danny, I had the pleasure of attending The Fest For Beatles Fans last weekend in Jersey City. And while we’ve discussed it multiple times — back when the Chicago Fest was happening last August, when we talked about bands with the influence of the Beatles or when we previewed the acts who played last weekend — I didn’t have the full picture. When I arrived at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on Saturday afternoon — with my parents in tow — I walked into an atmosphere that can only be described as fun and welcoming. We only had a few hours to see everything th ..read more

Why I’ll Walk Out of the Room During Your Father-Daughter Dance
Not Another Millennial Blog
by Michelle Ioannou

As a 25 year old female, I have attended my fair share of weddings — and that doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. In fact, last year and this year seems to have been filled with weddings across the country. However, one thing is the same at every one. I need to leave the room for the father-daughter dance. Please don’t take it personally. I really, truly, don’t mean to offend you. The dance is beautiful, it’s iconic, and it’s a rite of passage of sorts. I just can’t handle it. I’m a strong person, and I can handle a lot, but this? This is one thing I can’t handle. I lost my father to Mu ..read more

You’ve Heard the Phrase “A Day Without.” But What Does it Mean?
Not Another Millennial Blog

Since the Inauguration of President Trump, protests — in response to his racist comments, his derogatory remarks about women and his actions against immigrants (just to cite a few examples of his absurd behavior) — have popped up all over. Protests of this nature, including the Women’s March, are nothing short of inspiring. They are fine examples of what we fight for right here at #NAMB — raising voices peacefully for a common cause that will further the greater good. The latest examples of these protests include the “day without” protest, the first calling for all immigrant workers to go on ..read more
