We are due to get our third au pair in a few weeks. We got the welcome box from cultural care… no annual calendar for us to put things in for our au pair and her schedule. Like what? For over $10k a year in fees…. We cant even get a full calendar… we can just get one where we can print more pages… anyone know why they shifted this? Is this in line with other agencies? submitted by /u/Lianadelra [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have read from many people that when they go to America to be an Au Pair that they get $500 for education. Do you have to go to college or university while being Au Pair? I did all my schooling in Australia and went to college in England and don’t really want to take my education any further for the time being. Also any advice on being an Au Pair in general would be really helpful! Thanks lovelies xx submitted by /u/No-Adagio1382 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Doubts about extending au pair
Au Pairs, Nannies, and Babysitters - Reddit

HM in the US looking for some perspective on our situation. We've been hosting our German au pair for about 9 months. She's wonderful and I really, truly care about her as a person. She takes care of our two kids - 6 and 2 - and usually works about 35 hours a week, no housework required, she has her own car, our credit card, has plans to take about 5 weeks of vacation (she's taken 2.5 and has one more big trip planned), and we frequently give her generous cash gifts to help fund travel. I'm not working right now, hence her vacation situation. We've had lots of chats about extending because we ..read more

Explaining rematch to a 5yo?

We have had our au pair for about 6 weeks and have finally decided a rematch is necessary. There are a lot of reasons, but the primary one is that she does not have developmentally appropriate expectations of our 5yo and treats her like a "bad kid" for doing completely normal 5yo things. Just as one example, she told us that a 5yo should never need instructions repeated more than one time. When our child doesn't immediately comply with her directions she gets frustrated and it leads to a lot of conflict between her and our kid. This has been a bit shocking for us because every other caregiver ..read more

Too late to become a summer HF?

I've been vaguely considering looking for an Au pair, but I assumed it is typically a full year engagement. I see posts on this sub about summer Au pair programs, and I didn't even realize. How does that work? Is it too late? We're in small town Oregon, one child, 6 years old. we live in a small town that's within a 10 minute walk to the grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants/bars, summer concerts, hiking trails, etc. However, realistically, you want to drive to get the Oregon experience. Is it appropriate that we don't have a dedicated vehicle, but just sort of "when I'm not using it, go ..read more

My lcc is so trifling y’all ,I had a call with my regional supervisor and she’s basically asking me the reason for my rematch and I tell her like my HK got physical with me twice and stuff, she goes “oh,that’s not in the report that your lcc gave me.she just said you don’t like the town you’re living in” GIRL WHAT?! Then she’s asking me if I drive since my accident last year and I’m like yeah I drive daily and she goes “your lcc said you don’t drive at all” my lcc has me messed up. I then proceeded to tell my RS that my lcc doesn’t do her check ins or calls which is why it took so long for me ..read more

Extension fee

Was hoping to hear opinions on this. So I’m going to be a second year au pair soon to a new family and was hoping to ask this new family to pay for my extension fee that au pairs have to pay the agency. I’ve heard of host families offering to cover this cost but I’m not sure if I should ask and how I should ask. submitted by /u/ElectricalWriting616 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What kind of family need Aupair?

You may never believe that only very, very rich families in China will need aupair。 As you know, most of aupair come to China through student visa, which is an Expensive items in 2024。 It is beyond the imagination of ordinary middle-class families to spend several times the average social wage just to find a big brother or sister to play with their children. In Chengdu, I know many friends who have hired aupair. Without exception, they are all leaders from different industry and many of them are famous entrepreneurs. In contrast, many western countries, most of the host family is Middle cl ..read more
