The sun filters through the trees. The dappled shade keeping me cool as I lay on the sun bed. Pain and discomfort slowly ebbing away as the pain killers kick in. My eyes shut and I listen to the birds singing. A small breeze shakes the shrubs and trees and cools my over heating body. Before Christmas I contracted a virus which nearly finished me Mrs Sox and I were told I had days to live. The family came to my bedside and said nice things. My bed in the hospital was in a quarantine room. They wanted the bed for someone else, there were no places at care homes or at any hospice. They wanted me ..read more

My suit case for the weekend was so big it was the only thing that would fit in the boot. Mrs Sox’s rather small case had to go on the back seat. For weekends away this was a normal thing Friday Night was BNO night out at Pink punters in milton Keynes. We hadn’t been back to this place in a few years. It’s still the fabulously run place it always has been but with refurbishments. Up stairs cocktail bar and a gin bar off that too. The picture of me sitting down is in a make up room upstairs. Which was there last time we went but it has improvements. More mirrors We had a good old dance to some ..read more

Its been a while since I put finger to keyboard. The last year and a half has been difficult at Sox cottage. The news that my illness is incurable cancer has obviously been the most difficult thing my soul mate and I have had to deal with. I have been on chemo therapy for most of this time. Extending my life so I have time to spend with my most dearest is priceless. Most people only see the person with cancer has having no hair and looking gaunt and thin. This does happen with some types of chemotherapy but in the main most often on their good days look in the peak of health. Countless times I ..read more

The mirror looks back at me I can paint my face I can change my clothes But the person looking back Is not what i want to see A lash here and there A bit of rouge Fake tan and heels I do what i can but people see me as queer Not able to accept myself I dress to escape I dress to fit in A girl in stealth my home is my hide The internet friends The pictures and blog I have tried. The mirror mocks me The pictures lie The heels hurt What will come of me.   A loving wife Who holds me Keeps me warm A friend who injects me with life I turn the mirror to face the wall Look inside myself This ..read more

It’s been a good and bad summer here at Sox Cottage. The weather has been very good. We managed a couple of days at Sparkle Manchester. We didn’t stay out too late in the evenings but we enjoyed the atmosphere. I meet up with Cat and we had a catch up. I haven’t seen her since her operation and she was looking radiant. We also met up with Gina, Alison and Julie, we chatted with them for a while over a drink. Our holiday took in Brighton pride. The week leading up to it was hot enough but on the day of the parade it was very hot. There were so many floats in the parade that because of the sun ..read more

Water

Back in the long ago it was said that water came from the skies and the ravine at the side of the house had flowing water, creatures swam in the water and people ate them. Water is a costly commodity now and people pray for water to return. There is a prophecy that one day when God’s blood stains the moon red the water will return and the land will turn green…………….. So it is at Sox Cottage our little stream has run dry. The grass is yellow and our pond has had to be topped up numerous times. The sky has been blue for what seems like months but just as a lunar treat is about to amaze with a red ..read more

Is it safe to come out yet. Have all the nasty people gone away. Trump, May, Brexit and all their horrid friends still being Homophobic, racist, self centred, egotistical and selling their countries down the road so their rich friends can get richer? I thought so. I am going to go back to my world were everyone is equal, a place that I can wear what I want without hearing ‘Its a tranny’. A place where flowers grow with the seasons and are pollinated by bees and insects. Where there are vegetables grown from plants that the seeds can be harvested again and again and where the birds squabble ov ..read more

Well, its been a while. I do appologise to the few that follow me. I have been busy with boring stuff and trying to sort out my health problems. With some things the doctors have no clue. No pills and potions from big pharma make any difference but fortunately, slowly, things are improving on their own. Sox cottage is slowly coming along although the kitchen is proving to be a pain. A well known DIY chain was drafted in to do everything unfortunately the execution of the fit was a lot less than desirable. Negotiations are ongoing so I wont reveal the company. The thing is I am now putting thin ..read more

Rain ran down the window. A snowflake hit the same pane, melted and followed the rain drop on its journey to the bottom of the window and ultimately to the ground. Only to start the cycle of evaporation and head back to the sky and become a cloud. Do water molecules experience Groundhog Day? The wind blew and splatted the sleet hard against the window again. I wonder if the roof repair will hold out tonight. The new garage roof seems to be ok.   Its evenings like this that make me stay inside cuddled up to Mrs Sox with the log burner keeping us snug. Spending a couple of hours getting mys ..read more

The snow has come to Sox cottage and quite a bit of south wales. Its all looking fabulous. We have plenty of cakes and the larder is well stocked. The log store is full and our new central heating system is working well. Our snow boots are at the ready this morning as Mrs Sox and I intend to make a snow man but not before we have a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea. The sound of sizzling bacon and its hunger inducing aroma is wafting its way around Sox cottage as I write ..read more
