Ghost Theme Development - The Ultimate Guide

In June 2021, I moved the website you're currently reading this article on from Wordpress to Ghost (Ghost.org). After developing eCommerce websites on Shopify for a few years, I realised just how antiquated a system like Wordpress is. It's bulky, slow and built with old technology. Ghost by comparison is modern, fast and efficient. Ghost obviously doesn't have the level of brand awareness that Wordpress has and so you'll inevitably find less resources for learning how to develop on the platform. For this reason (along with some annoying gaps in their documentation) I was prompted to create a ..read more

As you can see, the 'Online Store' sales channel is not the only sales channel available You may not be aware that Shopify is much much more than just a place to build an online store. Shopify is actually a fully featured eCommerce platform that allows you to sell in many different sales channels whether it be through POS, through existing online platforms or through your own custom store ..read more

How to Build a Shopify App - The Easy Way

When I first started researching how to create Shopify apps, I stumbled across many articles and YouTube videos, all of which had a completely different way of doing it. At this point, I didn't really understand what a Shopify app even was! I thought that a Shopify app was somehow native to the Shopify platform and written in it's own language, similar to how it is with a desktop app or a phone app. Turns out, I was dead wrong. A Shopify App is just a web app that connects to a Shopify store. That's it. When you realise that a Shopify App is just like any web app, you start to understand that ..read more

Sofia has become a well-known city in the Nomad community (currently #36 on NomadList) due to it's low cost of living, modern infrastructure and position outside the schengen zone. Therefore, it became an obvious third destination of my Eastern European journey from Budapest to the Greek Islands. Here are my thoughts on Sofia as a destination for digital nomads. Cafes and Coworking Much like Belgrade, Sofia has a range of different coworking spaces to choose from. Here's a quick comparison: Name Day Passes Month Passes Betahaus €10 (first day free) €95 SOHO €8 (first day free) €95 Wo ..read more

Belgrade Wrap-Up: One Month as a Digital Nomad in Europe's Most Under-Rated Capital

I'll be honest. Belgrade looked a little boring from a distance. It's list of top attractions includes various churches and temples and an old fortress, a list that you could realistically cover in a single day. However, I now write this article shortly after leaving Serbia and feel proud to have been one of the first nomad bloggers to cover the city of Belgrade and the country of Serbia as a whole. Especially in world of digital nomads, Serbia doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves. The country is very inexpensive for nomads and yet the lifestyle is great, the people are super nice an ..read more

Liquid is the templating language that Shopify uses to load dynamic content to the pages of online stores. You could consider it the programming language of Shopify themes but there are a number of restrictions and quirks within Shopify liquid that aren’t immediately clear. While Shopify’s Liquid Reference and the famous ‘Cheat Sheet‘ are great, I feel like there is a lot of details missing and that’s why I decided to write my own documentation. Strap yourselves in as this one is likely to be a big one! The Basics Shopify’s documentation does a good job of explaining the basics. We start with ..read more
