Snape & Gryffindor's Sword

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I was just re-listening to Deathly Hallows for the third or fourth time and realized Snape put the sword in the pool. Nearly 30 years and reading/listening to the book countless times, and it just clicked that Snape switched out the fake then led Harry/Ron to it. I'm literally in shock. Also, moments before, Harry "imagines" hearing a cloak slithering like Voldemort's in the forbidden forest and now I realize HE DID hear a cloak...Snape's billowing cloak. Idk how I never caught this even though I've known about his patronous this whole time. Mind blown. sub ..read more

Draco does the most

Instead of his normal jeers and taunts, for Ron’s first quidditch game, Draco writes a song, coming up with a tune and making sure the lyrics rhyme, and teaches it to the whole Slytherin house. Then he designs badges and crowns, makes them, and passes them out. What a creative boy. submitted by /u/zipperjuice [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How exactly did Slytherin get the house cup every year?

This is probably a question I should know the answer to, considering I’ve been a fan for years, but I honestly can’t think of how they had a 7 year streak before Sorcerer’s Stone. Slytherins seem like the house with kids that are MOST likely to lose points (aka everyone’s favorite trio Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, as well as Millicent Bulstrode, Pansy Parkinson, and others like them). Sure, not all of them could be bad people, but there’s enough rotten Slytherins that I can’t understand how they won it once, much less 7 times. submitted by /u/Ok_Figure_4181 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Don’t get me wrong because I love Harry Potter but the acting gets me sometimes. I’m watching all the movies again and I just watched Harry “crying” on the rock under his cloak after finding out Sirius is his godfather. His acting there is so bad… submitted by /u/Headniz [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I read somewhere that Dumbledore allowed Lupin to attend Hogwarts and provided necessary accomodations for him here when he went through his monthly cycles. I can’t find this in PoA, can anyone confirm? submitted by /u/Thehumbleappmaker [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Who do you think incanted Avada Kedavra the best?

In the HP movies there are six characters (that I remember) that had cast Avada Kedavra, and I notice most of them have a different but fitting tone when casting it. Barty Crouch Jr (as Mad-Eye Moody) cast it with loud and clear annunciation to maximize the learning experience of it. He had a hint of mercy in it, but still needed to do it meaningfully. Wormtail growled it apathetically. To him, Cedric was just an obstacle to put aside so he can finish his work for the Dark Lord. Bellatrix practically sang it. She uses the curse because it’s fun, not just out of duty or rage or desperation ..read more
