The release of my new book! I am happy to say the day has come and Aspen and Boomer Discover Fall is finally available!   When I started putting together this book it was about five years ago and the costs of publishing at the time set me back until now.  Recently publishing Visions of Nature gave me the courage it took to decide to author, illustrate, and publish Aspen and Boomer Discover Fall myself!   In writing the book I wanted a fun and adventurous journey that was not long winded.  I also wanted all of the illustrations in the book to be based on my photo ..read more

INTO THE WILD

INTO THE WILD I captured this beautiful scene driving one of my favorite areas of the country, Lolo Pass.  It is an area filled with towering evergreens and white water rivers.  The undergrowth is filled with ferns and everything is green in the spring. While driving the pass I enjoy taking small backroads, one of which led me here.  Hoping to get a shot from the bridge I parked near I quickly gave up on that idea and started exploring the river banks and hoping from boulder to boulder. I debated if this was the "right" shot for this location as the bridge down the river is s ..read more

TOES IN THE WATER One morning while in Gulf Shores I knew I wanted to shoot on the beach.  Having seen nothing that directly jumped out at me while down there scoping out the beach I decided to photograph the pier.   I was all set up for my shot when the color started to come on.  I saw a heron walking the shoreline hunting and grabbed my telephoto and started clicking.  I soon realized that I was there long enough and standing still enough that it did not see me as a threat.   I set down my telephoto and slowly picked up my tripod and moved down the s ..read more

REJOICE I love small white churches.  Honestly I could spend days photographing these small churches in the middle of nowhere in the fall!   This church left a mark on me my very first time traveling to New England.  I have since returned and photographed it several times to try and get my shot just right.  Finally after my third trip I have this shot and I am in love with it!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! BORN TO LIGHT It will soon become a year that no one will remember and we will tell our children and grandchildren about.  The year of COVID-19.   My family as well as every family in the world was under quarantine orders.  As with anyone we started to get restless but we were cautious and wanted to be smart returning to normal.  I started to get especially restless.   I had many trips planned for the year and we were smack in the middle of the first when everything got really bad.  We were in Alabama and when we got back we did not travel for ..read more

Glory Glory was photographed out in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere.  I know I was heading somewhere but I honestly don’t even know where that was.   As I saw this barn off the side of the road I pulled off and grabbed a couple frames with a super-telephoto.  PURCHASE GLORY ..read more

Backcountry Glory The day I started by drive back from photographing the New England states in the fall of 2019 I decided to take a few back roads to check out some of the covered bridges I had researched.   When I had done my research I looked into every covered bridge in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.   I knew there were two on my drive home that I had to check out; this one was not one of them.   As I was on my way to my last bridge I drove right past this bridge and pulled right off the side of the road.  I turned around and went back.   ..read more

STEPPING STONES Stepping Stones was captured in the mountains of North Carolina a couple years ago. In all honesty I was there a couple weeks too early but that was when I had my window to go, so I went.  Finding the amount of color I wanted was a challenge. On this particular day I pulled off and looked down a very steep drop to see lots of color far below me on the valley floor above a stream.  I had no clue what it looked like a couple hundred feet down but I was excited to find out! I grabbed my gear and carefully descended down through the yellow canopy below my to the river ..read more
