Hi all! I hope you don't mind me asking what might seem like a slightly odd question but I'm doing some research around the autopsy report of a young man who died by intraoral shotgun wound. The autopsy report describes quite profound brain damage, lacerations, haemorrhage etc. as would be expected but also describes the brain as being necrotic. My understanding of various necrotic processes is somewhat limited and I'm struggling to work out whether the necrosis described is a reflection of the GSW or a pre-existing pathology. I understand that any traumatic wound can become necrotic if left ..read more

Hello redditors! First, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to this group, as it has been veryhelpful in my journey. A little about me: I'm a non-US IMG planning to apply for a match in 2025 to a pathology program. Since I am not willing to apply to any specialty other than pathology, Iwant to maximize my chances. I am currently studying for a master's degree in medicalbiotechnology, focusing on the molecular bases of disease in Italy. I'm also working as an intern in a molecular pathology lab as part of my studies. The lab experience I have includes cell culture, performing Western and N ..read more

For someone finishing fellowship, how efficient is cold calling and emailing for jobs in the transfusion medicine domain? How would I go about it (who to contact? Format of email or letter to send? Do I just send my CV?, etc.) I mainly want to cold call because I am geographically restricted and I want to see if I can find jobs in the city/state I live in but none are posted. Thanks!! submitted by /u/AdditionalEconomist1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hoping to hear some stories about mistakes people have made in pathology and then their life “went on”….for lack of a better phrase. Not silly things that are easily remedied like “I didn’t find 12 lymph nodes and had to go back to the bucket” but actual things that you did wrong and there was some sort of consequence, such as running out of tissue or something like that. Had a super awful day at work as a resident, won’t go into details to keep things confidential but may have had a sampling problem to keep it short. Hoping to hear that I am not the worst person to have ever been born. subm ..read more

Hi All, I am doing some research into the use of AI into immunohistochemistry and biomarkers and just need the basic fundamentals, definitions, process flow charts to get a basic understanding so I can make a few powerpoint slides. Could someone kindly point me to some online publications / pdfs that they would recommend. I found this: https://cancer.wisc.edu/research/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Biomarkers-in-Cancer.pdf but wanted to build on this, thanks! submitted by /u/Psychological-Map845 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
