AI was born way before the Terminator movies in the 80s and iRobot in 2004. It was first described in the 50s in the following paper.  https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/papers/2008/P550.pdf Lots of math involved, but the text in the beginning makes it pretty clear even for a non-engineer like me how AI works to solve business problems. Moore's Law has finally brought computer processing power fast enough to bring AI to fruition. Right now, in 2024, AI has the brain power of a rat, but by 2025, it is on the trajectory to have the processing power of a human brain.  That scar ..read more

I was so sad to learn that one of my kid's roommates' Father committed suicide a couple of weeks ago. Before you get all judgmental, I want to say, it can happen to anyone. I honestly believe that. He was Bishop of his ward, which means he has responsibility to help 400 people with their problems.  All of our callings aren't paid in our church, so everything we do is volunteer on top of taking care of our own families and working to pay our own bills. He had five kids and lived in Utah. Being Bishop is a huge responsibility in this state because wards are so big here.  I don't know ..read more

Amazing Grace Taught Gospel Doctrine lesson on "Grace" this Sunday at church and thought I'd share a video on the same subject, because it is really great news for everyone. The video makes the concept of "Grace" crystal-clear because it shows how the Savior atoned for our sins in full, and why we still need to strive towards perfection. Grace is an enabling strength, Divine help, to get where we could not, or would not be able to on our own, because we are not enough without the Savior. Link to Brad Wilcox devotional video on "Grace" is here ..read more

New Year's is a great time to reflect on accomplishments of the year that is past and plan what we want to do better the next year.  I spent some time reading articles on New Years resolutions and how to make them stick. Some of the tips helped me a lot, so I thought I would share. Turns out, I was putting too much pressure on myself to get back into exercising by making my goals too big. Easing back into it has helped me have a lot more success at getting back into my life-long habit ..read more

Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher, has been quoted as saying “change is the only constant in life.” We've seen a lot of big changes in our lives lately, and in the lives of the people we love. We moved to Utah and like it. Our kids are finally really independent because they drive everywhere, we like that too, especially when they go grocery shopping, ha. Grandma Ann is moving out of her home of 47 years. And, sadly, our friend Suzanne Moon passed away. My friend lost her baby at 8+ months in utero a few days ago. No words. Good times in life are definitely something we should never take for gr ..read more

Our family spoke in church yesterday. We were all asked to speak on parables that were given by Jesus Christ during His ministering on earth. Kaeli went first. She spoke on the Prodigal Son, then Kaden spoke on the Lost Coin, I spoke on the Importunate Friend, and Marc spoke on the Good Samaritan. My talk is at the end of this article. I post them for our friends who aren't members, so they understand what we are all about.   ..read more
