The Minnesota Wild completed their season on Thursday night with a matchup against the Seattle Kraken at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. A pre-game ceremony to honor Wild goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury with the second annual Tom Kurvers Humanitarian Award for his positive impact on the community. Kurvers was an assistant GM for the Wild until he passed away in 2021 from cancer. Fleury, fresh off of signing a one-year, 2.25M AAV contract extension to play one last year in Minnesota, got the start in net chasing after his 562nd career win. Scoring his 46th goal of the season, Kirill Kaprizov tall ..read more

The New York Islanders have achieved escape velocity from the chaotic wild card race of the east, clinching the third spot in the Metropolitan Division. With the win on Wednesday against the Devils, and the Rangers beating Ottawa to confirm their President’s Trophy, the Islanders have confirmed a rematch with the Carolina Hurricanes in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Second and third in the Metro, the Canes and Isles are meeting in the playoffs for the second straight year, and third time in 6 seasons. Both of those series ended in defeat for the Isles in 4 and 6 games in 2019 and 2023, r ..read more

Goodbye to Homeboy Jack

It’s come to an end. The Jack Edwards experience is packing it up and moving on. From “high above the ice” on the 9th floor of the TD Garden; the voice of your Boston Bruins for the last 19 years (19 YEARS!!), is finishing out this season’s playoff run and saying goodbye to a generation of Black and Gold Faithful who’ve never known another voice as their soundtrack for Bruins’ TV coverage. And Martha… he had quite the run. “Who’s having more fun than us?” is a rhetorical question coming from Jack, as he clearly relished his time calling Bruins’ games and got to live out the wildest dreams of ..read more

East Playoffs Set, Rangers Will Begin Quest for Cup Against Ovechkin, Capitals

All four Eastern Conference playoff matchups are decided. The way it unfolded tonight was, to put it simply, pure chaos. The Washington Capitals put the dagger through the heart of the Philadelphia Flyers with a 2-1 win in regulation, consequently eliminating the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins from the race in the final hour. What a battle we got to witness for the final two playoff spots in the east over the last two weeks, which saw teams that struggled to win consistently through the course of the season turn it on in the face of an early summer break, namely the Washington Capit ..read more

Disappointing Devils Season Mercifully Ends

The Devils most disappointing season since 1996 has finally come to an end. What the hell went wrong and how can it be fixed? The Devils missed the playoffs and finished the season under .500 despite coming into the season being viewed by many as Stanley Cup contenders. A whole lot went horribly wrong for New Jersey and there are some glaring issues to address between now and October 4th when the Devils open next season in Prague. Capitals Get Massive Win Over Wings in the Playoff Race!

In what was a huge playoff implicated game Tuesday night in Detroit with the playoffs within reach. Especially with the boys coming into the game on a terrible 6 game losing streak it felt like a must win in my opinion. The playoff percentages with a win or loss had large differences. Win in regulation gives the Caps a 43% chance to make the playoffs, but if they were to lose they would have only had a 9.7% chance to make the dance. Pretty crazy how big one game can be. After an uneventful and plain and simple lackluster first period the Caps were able to survive enough to keep the game tied a ..read more

Lafrenière Unleashed: Young Star Rewriting History

For the franchise record tying 53rd time of the campaign, the New York Rangers left the game with two points following a third period surge over the Montreal Canadiens. That surge was led by their leading scorer, Artemi Panarin, as he collected a goal and two assists in the frame, adding to a second period assist for a four point night. The player that grabbed my attention, however, and fed into my ever growing anticipation for the upcoming playoff run, was Alexis Lafrenière. This is so cheeky kinda makes me wanna wear a long oversized peacoat with a top hat at a local cigar bar and pretend ..read more

The Northeast Quakes as the Isles Push for Playoffs
The Morning Skate

Friday morning, April 5th, was host to a rare and widespread earthquake that shook the Northeast US, as well as parts of Canada. The disturbance took place half a mile under the surface in New Jersey, approximately 12 hours after the Islanders closed out the win against Columbus at Nationwide Arena. Surely, this was just an aftershock from the epic, crushing weight of shifting Eastern Conference playoff positions as there is little tectonic plate activity on the east coast (a passive margin as opposed to West Coast’s active margin), save the alleged ancient plate buried deep in the earth milli ..read more

After 4 straight losses and 2 of them against that are inferior opponents the Caps now are on the outside looking in on the playoffs. After a pathetic 4-1 loss to the Penguins Thursday night, the Capitals have now taken the backseat to the New York Islanders when it comes to the final wild card playoff position. The Caps currently stand at 82 points and are one point behind the Islanders, but also have a game in hand on the boys from the Island. As of 4/5/24 here is the overall look at the standings: Now lets get to last nights eye-roll of a game. It starts with household name Ryan Shea (kidd ..read more
